Can anyone recommend an eco friendly detergent that smells nice?

I love Seventh Generation detergent for babies because it is all natural and smells great but not too strong!

W4802 smells really bad

This is a common issue. What is needed is a cleaner needs to be run through monthly. All front load machines do it. The product is available near laundry soap, and is called washing machine cleaner.

Why do my clothes have horrible smell

Front loader? Welcome to our hell.

Seriously though - it's not that bad. You need to have a different mindset with these machines. First, throw away your old detergent. You've GOT to use the type with the HE logo on it. Really. There is a difference.

Wipe out any standing water in the gasket between the drum and door opening after the last load of the day.

Leave the door open slightly to allow air to flow around between washes.

Open the other doors for detergent, bleach, etc. between laundry days.

Don't use liquid fabric softener. Use dryer sheets instead.

Run a small, empty load with hot water and bleach ONLY. No clothes, as your last load for the days that you do laundry.

Use a product like Affresh, once or twice to rid the washer of existing smells. You can use Affresh any time the smells start coming back - and follow the suggestions above.

Above is a service manual, so you can troubleshoot and identify your problem.
However, in my professional opinion, I think, you would be best to call a professional.

Drum smells like rotten eggs - perhaps the water is not draining completly - only smells if the machine has not been used in a few days and is the only spot in the house that smells - we have city water...

Run a hot wash or soak as your last cycle on wash day. If the unit is not regularly used an extra rinse is a good idea. If odor comes back there is still remaining residue. The area you need to concentrate on is always just 3 to 5 inches above the normal waterline where suds and soiled water splash up. If nothing else works this "splash area" can be cleaned by added a washer cleaner to a full load of laundry. The added bulk of the laundry will raise the water level to include the splash area. Intermittently pausing and restarting the washer to soak works for extreme cases.

Laundry room smells like rotten eggs

Does the sewer drain line have a trap at the bottom that prevents sewer gas from entering the room? If the smell seems to be coming from the washer itself, run a wash cycle empty with a cup of baking soda, detergent and hot water to clean the interior.

The washer has a very bad odor. I have tried using different soaps, but it still smells bad. The clothes smell "flat"----no odor----but the laundry room is getting to smell harsh. There is nowater outside...

thedrain has sludged up causing partial blockage. soap powders cause this . check the fall on your drainage. Either attempt self cleaning or get a drainage company to investigate.

Inside of the washer smells bad but laundry comes out clean.

Run a wash with a cup of vinegar, that should deodorize the machine

1) laundry smells bad after wash & 2) leaking conditioner

Check that your overflow pipe is higher than the pipe it goes into. As sometimes waste water, as it drains from the sink after washing up etc, will leak into your machine, and stagnate.
Best of luck.
