Question about Lenovo G550-29583AU Notebook
Have you tried installing the drivers for the touchpad?
The link below will take you to the driver download page for your laptop, scroll down to the section for touchpad and install either the windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit drivers.

I had this same problem. This is how I solved it:
1. Install the touch-pad driver from Lenovo's website, but remember which folder it installed into
2. Go into the device manager, it's located in the control panel, and click on mice and other pointing devices, then on the mouse device
3. In the mouse device window, go to drivers, then update driver, then say locate manually, then find the folder you installed the drivers to
4. Restart and try the scroll wheel

How to enable scrolling feature of touchpad in XP on G550 Lenevo Laptop.
1.Open Control Panel
2.Double click on Mouse icon.
3.Under Mouse Properties Screen, click on Gestures Tab.
4.Select Auto Scroll option from the Right Corner Assign:Combo box.
5.Click on Use Scroll Function check mark.
6. Then Click on Apply and then OK button.
By the above steps I had enabled scrolling feature of my G550 Laptop that's why I have shared these steps with you, I hope this would help you out.

My lenove g550 with windows7 basic not working the scroll in mouse touch pad? please let me know how to activate that?

fist go bios & give boot from cd RAM save it exit from there insert XP CD it will ask you press any key ,just pess it then it will start coping fails & drivers after that XP will install ok

To be able to Disable the touchpad you need to press FN + F6 to disable it you can enable it by pressing the same keys. Some Helpful Keys that you need to know about Lenovo.
FN + F5 - Enable/Disable Wireless
FN + Esc - Enable/ Disable Webcam
