Have a swann DVR 4_950. Let's u set up to record. Shows the motion sensor icon and says it set to record. But when I went to watch it. It said empty HDD. Anyone know what to do.

Go into your Record Menu then Record Schedule and make sure you have green set for recording motion. Other thing to check is record speed to make sure the frames per second are set. If the record icon shows up next to the motion icon then you may have a hard drive issue. Try to reformat

Swann servalance hdd red light flashing

Yes it should flash the red led, that means that the system is recording at that specific moment....I would worry if there is motion in the front of the cameras and the red light wouldn't flash.

After rebooting swann security how do you get it to start recording? When you push replay it says no files

Make sure that the DVR hard drive is not defective, if it is in working order go to schedule recording and select your recording based on motion, alarm or continous

Motion works fine daytime records all night won't stop

cameras are more sensitive at motion during night time, also camera cable noise can trigger the camera to record continously

Channel 1 wont motion record and other 3 do why is this they have all been set up the same way

Your recording schedule is not the same for all cameras, go to schedule recording menu, select camera one and make sure that is setup to motion detection not alarm or continous recording.

Motion recording for Swann dvr4

Have you switched cameras to AUTO (A) on settings line. Is the sensitivity for motion turned on and set correctly =
1= very sensitive 9 = less sensitive.

Setting areas are shaded = no recording area
unshaded = recording area

Hope this helps - good luck.
