Some other web sights said I should not go into the microwave to repalce the timer display. Additionally, it appeared the part may be relatively expensive. I decided to just live with it as it is.
Thanks,
Dave

I have a 12yo Sharp r-430cs microwave. The LED is not displaying all the "lights" in the numbers/alpha readouts. It is missing a lot more of the readout than it is showing. Everything else is working

Go to Sharp's website and check availability of the clock/timer readout board. Being that old you may not be successful, but it;s worth a try.

It may be the control panel. What ever you do, don't send the control panel to William Miller. He ripped me off, and I have to dispose of my microwave because he never returned my control panel.
If yours has gone dead completely, it's more cost effective just to replace it. I bought an LG to replace mine.

The led readout is not readable, the numbers are just partially lit

The control board needs replacing. The cost is usually 75 dollars and up just for the board. You can order it from your neighbourhood appliance parts store. Just give them: Manufacturer, Model, Serial no's.
Changing the board can take about an hour. It is an easilly replacable module.
