Sharp Aquos LC-C3242U LCD screen go's black after power on.

I just got a used Sharp Aquos LC-C3242U LCD, Cheap. When it powers on the screen powers up normally, then go's black in about 1 second. The audio still works. I tried to leave it unplugged for several days (I know this is more then necessary) and plug it back in. But I still get the same issue, so it was not a hard reset that it needed. I do hear a faint sound when I put my ear next to the back and turn it on. It sounds like a high pitched buzz, then quits when the screen go's black.

I can't find a service manual for it, they said it is too new for them to be out yet, (I don't believe that).

Any ideas on what the problem may be?

    Thanks for the reply. I guess its a parts set now. The only prices I could find for the main module were in the $650 range. Makes no sense to repair it at that cost, new is only a few hundred more, and has a warranty.

    Unless you know some where that sells main module for less?

    I have the same problem with the same TV. It started about 1 year after buying it, but generally, the problem was gone after 1 or 2 weeks, and that's the reason why I hesitated to bring it back to the shop (I did not know it it depended on my environment : cables, DVD, antenna signal...).
    I'm not able to see the workaround (and the reason for black screen) that a customer replied to you in this newsgroup. Could you please mail it to me ([email protected]). Thx a lot !

    i as well have a green line down the center and the tv shuts of after about 5 min of use.

I have (had) the exact same problem with my Sharp LC40C32U. I purchased it at CostCo 1 1/2 years ago. Because they changed their return policy I thought I was out almost a $1,000 but decided to ask them if they could do anything. Wouldn't you know they had an extended warranty that was still in affect. I called their service people and spent over an hour on the phone with them. After going through all the troubleshooting steps they arraigned for an in home repair (free of charge).The technician that came new exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. The kicker is no parts were bad, over time the 2 grounding points on one circuit board were not making contact correctly. He explained that the problem would be worse when the set was cold, as it heated up the grounding points would make a better contact. That's why it seemed to occur everyday first thing in the morning. He took the back off, removed the circuit board and cleaned the contacts. When he put it back together he tightened the screws down fairly tight, explaining that the factory does not tighten them enough which is why I (we) have the problem in the first place. This took all of about 20 minutes. I have not had any problems since. If you live in San Diego, CA the company that fix'ed my Sharp is Advanced Electronic Service.

I dont know about main module going bad or not i do agree with mainboard not making contact. the guy posting before me probably needs customers for his business mine does the same think usualy in the morning when is cold. my solution: turn it off and tap it gently on top than it works like a charm.

Do you get any indicator lights at all, if you do, then the 5v standby circuit is working, if you get nothing at all, then the main power supply will be the first palce to look, blown fuse? capacitors?

Why won't my LC-C3242U Sharp Aquos tv won't turn on

Fault with the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time.

I have a Sharp Aquos LC-C3234U TV. I can turn it on and than the screen goes black but the volume is fine. What can I do to fix it?

Check its back-light inverter board, and the voltage comes to it from the main power regulator board. To get some details, Pull up older posts.

Sharp aquos won't turn on

if it was a new tv you can ask the supplier for check up it was covered with warranty.

I have a sharp Aquos and the input button will not come on black

If you get sound but no picture (black screen), There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.
Please post back what you find.

yes,the set has a main video processor board bad.Sharp is well aware of this problem,and with persistence sharp will give in.

Blinking power light.

i hve the same problem. I turned on my Sharp Aquos lc-32d62u HDTV last night for the first time, but it is black and a blinking green light.
