Our sanyo dp42746 went black made a pop sound and would not turn back on no power light or nothing

Most likely a power supply board went bad. the pop sound is bad capacitor on the board. Most bad capacitors will look like this:

You can try repairing the board by replacing the capacitors or replace the whole power supply board. Most replacement boards can be found at a good price at Shopjimmy.com or Ebay.
