HD stations have no picture, sound only. Other inputs show picture.

When I switch to antenna and change to a HD station (e.g. 62-2), I see several bars indicating I am pulling in the station, I hear the audio just fine, but I don't have any picture. If I switch to a non-HD station (e.g. 10) I have picture just fine. Also switch to other video inputs shows that I have picture. However, why would the HD picture not be there? It is dark? Could it be something with the HD tuner?

Except I am inputing the actual channel that I want to turn to. The info on the screen says I have the good channel reception. (e.g. I see the graphic with 3 or 4 bars - like cell phone).

    Thanks

Hi,
Looking at a diagram of the back of your TV I see that you have only one Coax input. You will need to plug either your antenna or the DirecTV in one of the other sources available on the back of the TV.
According to DirecTV's website, their box also uses composite video cables and depending on the age of that box, may have an HDMI connection also.
Looking at the back of your TV, the composite video cable input is the top two rows to the right of the Coax input you are currently using.
Once you have both connected to different inputs, you can use your remote to switch between the sources and watch whichever you like.

How to change or reset PS3 Video Display Mode

When you attach your Play Station 3 to an HD TV through an HDMI port, the Play Station 3 will ask you if you wish to switch to HD Mode.

However, if you decide to move it to another TV that is not HD compatible, you will get no picture because the Play Station 3 is “stuck” in HD (HDMI) mode.

Follow these steps to resolve your problem:

1. Turn off the PS3 so it only shows a red light. You can hold the power button on the front until it goes into standby. To be sure, flick the power switch on the back of the Play Station 3 off and then back on.

2. Make sure your Play Station 3 is connected to your regular TV (not HDTV) with the standard video cables.

3. Press and hold the power button until the screen "flickers" and then immediately release. This should reset the video settings.

4. Wait a few seconds, and the Play Station 3 (PS3) logo should appear.

If this does not resolve the problem, follow these steps:

3. Press and hold the power button on the front until the Play Station 3 beeps and then turns off again. This should reset the video for you and you can turn it back on after this.

That’s it! You can play your Play Station 3 again!

Off air antenna hook up

You probably have to set the tv to run on the input jacks your antenna is plugged in to. In other words these newer tv's have 2 or 3 inputs and they only run on the input it is set on, if not the right one you must change the setting. On mine there is a button next to the on/off button on the set which is inputs, keep pressing that button and it cycles through inputs till you get the right one. When tv first comes on it flashes the name of the current input on the screen--think they all do that. If input is hdmi, it refers to the hdmi socket, if composit (I think) then it refers to the rca jacks that are red, white, yellow, may be more than one of either. In this way you could have cable on one input, a video player on another, and cable on still another by switching desired input. I use a UHF antenna but it didn't work till I got the right input and then searched for stations studying the menu for station setup, have to set up the stations first, it will configure settings for each station, and have it do that before you can expect to find and receive stations. With correct input you should get a blue screen or something with printing if input is right, click your menu button and will see the menu and then find where to configure stations setup, otherwise it is totally black and nothing happens, nothing responds, that's the wrong input.

Picture not clear when playing a recorded program from dvd

I had a similar problem with an Insignia converter box. This is confusing but . . . I was told by an Insignia person that you can only program the channel that you have on and cannot record a different channel. My output channel is 3. My roof antenna is attached to my converter box "From Antenna" jack. Attach the converter's "To TV (RF)" jack to your VCR's "Antenna Input" jack. Attach "Antenna Output" jack to TV "Antenna Input". You will see your programs on your output channel, but if your VCR is like mine, your VCR may not recognize anything but your output channel, no matter which station is actually showing on the TV. If I want to record a show on channel 7 while I'm gone, I have to make sure the converter station is on 7 and that I choose channel 3 as my channel to record. You cannot program shows to be taped on different stations unless you physically change it on the converter box. I put my VCR on "Record" and flipped the stations from one to the next from my converter remote control and I taped exactly what was on the screen from one station to the next. You cannot tape one thing and watch another. Clear as mud??? Hopefully, not.

I purchased a SANYO-DP46848 42"HDTV. I have a Cable box and my cable provider (Time Warner Cable) provides free HD Channels. However.... I CANNOT PICKUP ANY HD CHANNELS ON THE NEW TV. WHY???...

I just got the same exact one, when it searches automatically the first time it doesn't look for digital channels. go to Menu>manual channel search>cable. it will look for all possible signals and will take forever probably. the free digital channels will take several seconds to switch channel to channel, but they're there! They will show up on your screen as "DC 91-2" or similar. you can switch back to regular cable channels with the input button, you just cycle through all the inputs. hope that helps.
