The picture on my TV is distorted. The people images have short legs and their heads are stretched like cone heads. The sound and color is great. What could be the problem? Thanks,Kathy
Have you tried pic size on the remote to adjust the image. normal is the factor default.
the problem is not the picture tube but more of what drives it( the yolk) but the yolk is not the problem more like the cicuits that drive the yolk. you have an east west problem driven in the deflection circuit. you need service on this problem call a tech for this
only a tech can tell you that and they have to open it up to tell for sure, most techs take a bench fee up front which covers the estimating cost (the labor to take appart test vital components, research cicuits, and other stuff). most repitable techs will apply this to the final bill if repaired. be sure to ask for est. first before repairing. my company would charge $100.00 est fee. you may be looking at a total bill from $120.00 to $210.00 depending on what the problem is. this is cheaper than buying a new set. also if you get this repaired ask what the repair garantee is before laying down the down payment. 30 to 60 days is good but 90 days or more is great. if it were my set,(and I have been asked that question many times), to the dump it would go. the age of the set is the big factor, aging phosphor in the picture tube is reason to dump it, it may still produce a picture but it has lost the luster of what it was when new. all phosphor based TVs dim over time (40k hrs. or so is it's half life or 10 to 12 yrs of normal use). it realy comes down to your choice, repair or replace.
