Question about JVC AV-48WP30 48" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

We have an I-Art 48" JVC Model # AV-48WP30. When you turn it on only the top half shows. It's completely bowed in the middle and nothing on the bottom. You can usually turn it off/on a few times and the TV is fine. Now can't seem to get it to get a normal pic no matter how many times turned off/on.

This is very common.. you need to go here Re: Convergence problems on AV-48WP30 then read what it says. There are 2 chips to be replaced to fix it.

I will strongly advise you to replace the two STK392-120 as a pair. and this will cure your bowing picture problem. You may need to re-converge your set. best of luck.

JVC AV-48WP30 tv(convergence)

This is a convergence board problem. Have a tech replace convergence IC's. The part no. starts with STK. If you are good in soldering and know how to test resistors, you can do it.

If the convergence Ics and resistors are good its most likely related to the velocity boards that are attached to the Red CRT convergence yoke. Its the small board about half way up the neck of the CRT. If you need one let me know as I have a source for JVC boards for that model.

The convergence circuit needs repaired. I did the same job yesterday on this model. I not only replaced the convergence ICs, but, I had to replace a couple of resistors and a coil. The convergence alignment was minor after that.
