How do I download my movies from my JVC Everio HDD GZ-MG21U, to my Macbook?

Macbook uploads movies by way of firewire, but the Everio downloads by way of USB. I get a mass storage message, and things just lock up and I can't load my movies. I've had this camera for 15 months and can't free up any space to take new movies! Please help me out. I need a solution. Thank you, Jay

    I cannot find the outlet for the firewire on JVC Everio.  I can download stillshots to my Mac with the USB cable, but not any video files.
    Does anyone know?

    We have Everio S GZ-MS100

    DOWNLOADED .MOI AND .MOD in folder


    can not open with ANYTHING ....I movie ,  quicktime ETC.....


    so much for advertising

You can always backup those movies you want to your computer using a software like nero from majorgeeks.com and use this. for you to have a fresh start, reformat the cam afterwards and look for a latest fiemware update.

Make sure you're using an SD card, not a higher-capacity SDHC card. The GZ-MG21U works with SD cards, not with SDHC cards.

I lost the manual and CDs that came with my JVC Everio GZ-MG21U. Am trying to transfer my videos to my laptop using Windows Vista but won't accept it. I need to download the driver. Pls help.
You can download the manual from the manufacturer's web site at

You might want to consider NOT using a driver. The best way to download videos and pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy videos and pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any video/photo cataloging program, such as Windows Movie Maker and Windows Photo Gallery.
