    Hi devocap,

The system is running Win2k sp4. Nothing has to be running for the freeze up to happen. It is my daughters old laptop and I have uninstalled all extraneous programs, with no change in the problem.

Hey there rcune067, could you tell me the applications you are running prior to the system freeze, and have you installed anything new recently, hardware or software?

My keyboard is really touchy, on several of the keys

Before you replace the keyboard, try this:

Go to Start>Control Panel>Keyboard

There should be 2 adjustable settings: Repeat Delay, and Repeat Rate.

Move the slider to the left on both settings.

If you cannot get satisfactory results through this, it is probably time for a new keyboard.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Dell Latitude cpx

Try to connect and external keyboard to it
with the external monitor.
If the shortcut is in the keypads where most off the beer propably came in contact.
will now be seen if its boots up.
If it boots up with external keyboard the ptoblem is in the beer soaked keyboard.
change or clean the keyboard with isoprophanol
to dissolve moisture and beer.
This is the solution. Please vote!!!

Cursor problem

I've worked on a lot of the CPX machines and never encountered this issue. Can you use the cursor when it does this and does it eventually go back to the way it should be? Try checking and cleaning the connector, it's under the keyboard. To remove the keyboard, take out the screws on te bottom of the machine marked with a K. Then take a small screwdriver and lift one side of the keyboard, at this point it should lift up, keep in mind that it's still connected to the board, so lift gently.
