Make sure that you have caller id service from your phone company. If you do not have a different phone with caller id borrow a working one from a friend and see if it shows up on a different phone. Let a phone ring at least twice to give caller id time to work. If a different phone does not show the call information call your service provider.

Yes, I re-read the manual and it says (under Caller ID) to press the flash/program button to answer the new incoming call...I must have hit the pound key in error thinking I hit the flash button. I have yet to try this in real time, but will next time it arises and report if it does NOT work.
Unplugged all telephones but one and still had trouble so I called Verizon. They discovered it was an incoming line that was malfunctioning. However, the Uniden telephone system still does not work and since it is still under warranty I will contact them. To continue the solution of my telephone problem - It was discovered that the incoming line was indis repair. After it was repaired, I again set up my Uniden telephone system. It works with no problem. The word "searching"still appears on the face of the units, but it can be overcome with normal activity on the units.
