My dad tried to use the machine by putting a K cup into the brown plastic device used for fresh grounds. Now it isn't working. It will pour water fine without a K cup in it, but when I try to use a K cup it either acts like it is clogged or it spills hot water all over the place without actually making any coffee. Are the K cups supposed to get punctured at the bottom? I am used to using the fresh grounds device, so I forget exactly how to use it with K cups.

Front-loading washing machines are energy efficient and use less detergent than top-loaders, but they sometimes have a tendency to harbor mold and unpleasant smells. By giving your washing machine a quick clean once a month, you'll keep your front-loader fresh, which means cleaner clothes, too. This eco-friendly method doesn't use bleach, costs only pennies to make, and comes together with ingredients you already have on hand.
What You'll Need:
2 cups vinegar
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup water
Scrub sponge
Directions:
Start by mixing together the baking soda and water in a small bowl. This is going to be the "detergent" for cleaning the washing machine. Pour the vinegar into a measuring cup and head over to your washing machine.
Add the baking soda mixture to the detergent container of your machine and pour the vinegar into the drum. Set your washer to normal load at the hottest water setting. Close the door and start the machine, letting it do all the hard work for you. The baking soda and vinegar naturally break up mineral deposits and any mold growth while cleaning and refreshing your washing machine.
Use a clean scrubber to rub around the opening of the washing machine, removing stubborn mold or residue. Wipe clean with fresh water.
Your washing machine is sparkling clean and ready to do a load of laundry! Give your front-loader a cleaning once a month to keep your clothes smelling fresh and your machine working in tip-top condition.

1. Fill a 2 cup measuring cup with hot water. 2. Mix in descaler. 3. Pour in the empty water tank. 4. Put the yellow cleaning disk in the chamber and close chamber. Put the two cup measuring cup under the spout. 5. Push and hold the brew button for about 3 seconds (until the red and green light flash. 6. Now don't touch the machine. It will do it's thing for about 20 minutes. (Don't be impatient and start to push buttons, just leave it) 7. When it finishes it's cycle. The red light will turn off. Then clean the water tank and put fresh water and run clean water through the brewing cycle 4 times. Your machine is now ready for use.
Found the answer on another fixya post. Seems like about the same product.
Bunn Home brewers don't perculate. They work the same way that commercial brewers do. Fillit with water, let it heat for about 20 minutes, then put your filter and coffee grounds in the funnel, pour a pot of water into the machine, put the pot on the warmer, and let the water run through. Then enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee.
look for water leaks around pot. Otherwise do a daytime brew to compare your difference between the amount poured in and what comes out. Please note that less water should mean using less ground coffee. Suggest 1 heaping table spoon per brewed cup.
Try cleaning it with white vinegar. Put in one cup with a potful of water, and let it soak. To get more cleaning, pour the water/vinegar through again, hot. Put in a coffee filter to catch/strain the debris, and you will be able to see if it's helping. When you're through cleaning, pass fresh water through the machine by potfuls, until no traces of vinegar can be detected.

It sounds like the tank isn't full. Unplug the machine and make sure there is a pot underneath to catch water. Pour clean water into the tank until it starts flowing out. Plug the machine in and let it heat up. Then try brewing coffee.
The way your machine works is that there is a holding tank for the water and it isn't actually brewing with the water you just poured in, it is using the holding tank water. If the holding tank gets low, and you pour water in all it does is fill the tank but nothing will come out.
