Brother P-Touch 1180 Label Printer Logo

Pt-110 problem I have an older pt-110 that I haven't used for years. I just installed new batteries and a new cartridge. After loading the words and pressing "print", the machine makes noise as if it were working but no tape is feeding. The cartridge is loaded correctly and there are no obstructions to the tape feed. Any advice??? Thanks, Nick

Yes, I have the same problem. It makes a noise like it's trying to print, but the tape doesn't feed through. I switched batteries and tape. It's been a few months since I used it, but never had this problem before. I don't want to buy a new machine...I'm quite fond of this bean-shaped one.

Same here. If you remove the cover you can force the pich roller onto the tape using a paper clip and then it works.

Yeah, exact same problem with the PT-110. I used the paper clip trick and it did work.

I opened mine up and found that the plastic part which engages the roller is broken i haven't found any parts available so I guess its junk now.

I have the same problem. There is a little arm attached to the base of the pinch roller. It's broken on mine causing the problem. Attempted to epoxy the part back together, did not work, part is too small where broken. Don't know if there is a replacement part. New P-Touch was $39.00 at Staples so I'll probably just buy a new one. You have to be pretty mechanically inclined to get the thing apart anyhow.

Turn on and word Garmin appears, then it says loading maps then it shuts down.

It sounds like you have a battery that is going bad. The StreetPilot is one of the older Gamins, and have been known to need new batteries after a few years of use. I would advise upgrading to a newer GPS.

Have inserted new batteries and new cartridge but not able to print

Sounds silly, but are the batteries good and are they correctly installed. Check the pictogram in the battery case and make sure that the batteries polarity complies. Also check that the cartridge is securely fitted and the tape feed is correct.

I have a HP 8259 printer and it indicates the yellow print cartridge needs to be replaced even when i install a new cartridge. It will not let me print in color or black/grayscale. I have had the printer...

Older printers can do funny things. It is probable that the little copper contacts on the ink cartridge are not making good contact with the printer which is giving bad information to the computer that the ink cartridge is empty. A two year old printer may have some corrosion on the printer's contacts. Remove the ink cartridge and use a soft pencil eraser to clean the printer's contacts.

REMOVAL

WARNING:
  • TO PROTECT THE HANDS FROM BATTERY ACID, A SUITABLE PAIR OF HEAVY DUTY RUBBER GLOVES SHOULD BE WORN WHEN REMOVING OR SERVICING A BATTERY. SAFETY GLASSES ALSO SHOULD BE WORN.
  • REMOVE METALLIC JEWELRY TO AVOID INJURY BY ACCIDENTAL ARCING OF BATTERY CURRENT
  1. Make sure ignition switch is in OFF position and all accessories are OFF.
  2. Open hood.
  3. Remove the air cleaner housing.
  4. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable then the positive cable.
  5. Loosen bolt (4) and retainer (1) that holds the battery down to the tray.
  6. Lift battery out of battery tray and remove from vehicle.
  7. Remove thermal guard (if equipped) from battery.

CAUTION: Vehicles equipped with the turbocharged engine use a unique battery hold down. If the replacement battery is not identical, in size to the original, it may be necessary to use non-corrosive spacers on top of the hold down retainer to properly secure the battery in the battery tray.

When replacing battery, the thermal guard MUST be transferred to the new battery (if equipped).

  4. Torque clamp nuts to 12.5 N.m (110 in. lbs.) .
  5. Install air cleaner housing.
  6. Close hood.
  7. Verify proper vehicle operation.

Problems with Panasonic PT-53TW53 replaced the STK392-110 with STK392-180's and the six resisters initially the tv worked fine but now and then i lose convergence then it works fine is this a heat problem...

It could be either a bad connection or a bad new chip--why did you go to 180 chip? The best replacement for the 110 chip this set used is a 150 chip. Keep in mind whatever chip you use they will only last 5-8 years---the problem is not the chip but the heat sink compound grease dries out from heat and whatever chip is in there is going to fail.

If you need further advice consult me--I have fixed hundreds of these sets--replacing with the original STK-392-110 you should get 5-8 years. If you got a new chip that is flakey you are going to have to replace both again to see if it is your problem

I REFILLED THE BLACK (C8727) , AND THE COLOR (C8728) ,

Go to:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=75035&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

Select Vista (or Vista 64-bit if you are using the 64-bit version) and download the appropriate drivers from there. These drivers should give you access to all of the necessary maintenance options including resetting ink levels (tell the driver you are installing new cartridges, remove and reinstall the existing cartridges to make it do the reset).

Test page coming out green indicates a problem with the ink cartridges since it should be using the black cart for most of the page.
