It's important to gently move the toner cartridge from side to side to distribute the toner evenly through the cartridge. This could be causing your blank lines. Also, clean the Corona wire when installing a new toner cartridge. Best of luck.

The "drum" referred to is the imaging drum which is replaced separately from the toner cartridge. The drum life is rated for a certain number of copies, and the printer is telling you it's time. Replacement drums are available at big-box office places and from many online sources. Just do a Google search for "kx-fl511 drum". The new drum just slides in much like the toner cartridge, so replacing it isn't difficult.
Try to reset advanced features to their default settings RESET=NO [±] To reset the advanced features: 1. Press {MENU}. 2. Press {#}, then {8}{0}. 3. Press {A} or {B} repeatedly to select “YES”. 4. Press {SET}. 5. Press {SET} again. 6. Press {MENU}.
It's time to change NEW DRUM UNIT..and that's why your Toner will Not Last Longer because unnecessary toner (the black lines) will be on the copy every time the fax comes or you make a copy.
