I find it most helpfull and i fixed my printer right away after learning that the control board short circuited due to the ink stained on it. i removed the cartridged and instead of replacing it with a new one, i dtried to clean it with a lacquer alcohol and blow dry it afterwards. Now, the sprinter is functioning and printing again. thanks for the help.

Did you use generic carts?
If yes, the lcd-control board is stained with ink and it has a short circuit.
You need a new cart holder which includes the lcd control.

Hi There, I have a brother DCP-130c printer and one of the colour ink has run out. I need to be able to print with just black. Is there a way to print without replacing colour ink?

When you click on print, click on print preferences. As shown in image below.

shreysri_2.png
On the preferences window click on Paper Quality tab and click on black and white. As shown below.

Click on OK and then click on print.

Note: Few new printers wont print till you replace the empty cartridges.

Regards,
Shrey

Printer says that ink levels are low when in fact they are not. I don't want to have to replace them all for no reason.

Brother Cartridges contain no Electronic Chips to Gauge the Ink levels. Simply removing one cartridge at a time, slowly, then replacing them will bring up a display asking if they are new or old cartridges. if you tell the printer they are new, your ink levels will be re-set. Ink levels on most printers are only a guide also. If you want simply ignore the warnings, keep an eye on your inks manually. But be careful not to run them completely dry as printing in this state can cause the print head to burn out, and destroy the printer!!.

Brpther DCP 330c does not recognise new black ink cartridge

Usually there is more than one cartridge empty when you receive this kind of problem. Try opening the top cover and check if the display changes - it should change to specify one (or more) of the color cartridges as empty. That one(s) should be changed too.

Printer wont print black.already replaced with new ink but still wont print black

did you take the tape off the new cartridge and is the print head burned out for the black? if you installed the diagnostic's on it then run it and see what it says, otherwise expect the print head to be cooked, however it is possible to get a bad ink cartridge try tapping it on your finger and see if ink comes out if it does not then the ink cartridge is dried out or no good, about %15 of print cartridges are bad on just about any brand printer some more than others.

Not printing

  • If you replaced an ink cartridge before the LCD shows Near Empty or Ink Empty, the LCD will ask you to verify that it was a brand new one. (For example, Did You Change Blck?) For each new cartridge you installed, press up navigation key or 1 or "+" to select Yes to automatically reset the ink dot counter for that color. If the ink cartridge you installed is not a brand new one, be sure to press the down navigation key or 2 or "-" to select No.

  • Here is the manual, you can download it and go to the routine maintenance section.
