Just unpacked my MX700. Same problem, error code 5100 and "alarm" flashing. I've tried turning on-off, unplugging, and same thing keeps happening. when I lift the scanner cover, the printhead does not move to the center.

I had the same 5100 error code. Opened the lid to find a piece of paper jammed up in an accordion style preventing the print head from moving to the left. I removed the paper jam, moved the print head to the right, closed lid, turned printer off then back on. Error code cleared and printer returned to normal operation.

Hello and Welcome

Error 5100 means that the cartridge can not be detected by the printer.
Actually the printer is not actually loading the cartridge and showing you the error 5100.

To solve these follow the following steps. I hope it works
  1. Turn off printer
  2. Remove both the cartridges from the printer
  3. Use a clothe moistened with alcohol to clean the surface contact on the cartridges where the terminals inside the printers touches
  4. Return the cartridges
  5. Turn on the printer.
Error will be removed

Printer gets confused. Shows on screen an error code 5100 But I have no idea what that means and dont have a reference manual telling me what it is or where to try to get a correction. Any help is...

Hi

Error 5100 is carriage error. Carriage is printer's cartridge holder. This means that there is some problem with printer's carriage, you'll need to check the plastic stick (around 1/4" wide). Also, check for any obstructions in the printer's carrriage path ( like small bits of paper stuck under carriage or any kind of paper jam).
Turn off the printer and remove the cartridges and reseat them after cleaning the carriage's bottom area with a Q-tip.

Please get back to me in case of any queries.

My acer will only boot to the Microsoft Windows loading page then it starts over. How can I reboot my acer without a disc?

Enable disk-to-disk recovery
On boot, press <F2> to enter BIOS. To enable disk-to-disk recovery (hard disk recovery), activate the BIOS utility, then select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen. Find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use the <F5> and <F6> keys to set this value to Enabled. Save and reboot. While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to enter the recovery process. Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Help i cant print

Hi,

Error code 5100 refers to blockage along the print path. While this could be a number of things, simple remedies may include lubricating the slider rod where the print head moves along. This could be as simple as a drop of oil, cleaning and checking no paper bits or accumulated dust/ dirt or grime. Another area to check is the waste in pad. This would be the white receptacle below the print heads when in park position. On certain instances, the sponge may be dislocated and would simply require moving back in place. At other times, there could be obstruction blocking the print heads resting in the correct park position. This again could be dirt, grime, bits of paper, paperclips, staplers, or even gummed up or dried ink.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Canon PIXMA MP450 "Servic Error 5100"

Try this... it worked on my MP450... Turn the printer on and open the lid, it shows the cartridges. Now let the cartridges settle to the left. You can notice that the cartridges run on a metal belt. It might be dirty, mine showed a black stripe on it. Take a cloth, a cleenex will be fine and clean it up. Move the cartridges to the right (force them with your hand) and clean the part of the belt left behind them. Now turn it off, close it up and turn it back on. It should work
