Check your connections. If you put the component wires in wrong it will confuse the system. Once I had the red in correctly but because of poor lighting, had switched the green and blue around into their wrong inputs. My result was a black and white picture. Not saying that this is your problem but look at this first. Also, using regular composite wires (red white and yellow) and using them on the component inputs may have the same results

If you are using the s-video jack to connect the DVD to the TV, the jack could be loose or the wire could be bad. The s-video cable has 2 signals, the black-and-white (luminance) and the color (chroma). If the chroma signal is not getting through, the picture will be in black and white.

SOURCE: SONY DVD PLAYER DVP-SR200P BUT IT ONLY SHOW IN BLACK AND WHITE ?

You have posted this in the Panasonic DMR-ES30VS section.
Please note which product section you are in before posting your question.

For the Sony DVP-SR200P there could be multiple reasons for it only showing in B&W.
Was this a recent problem, is this a new hook-up, has it always been this way?

  1. In the setup menu there is a setting for Custom Picture Mode.
Could someone have turned the color down?
You can go to the setup menu and "Reset" the player to the factory settings.
  2. How is this connected to your TV?
Check all cables to make sure they are plugged in, test each one by unplugging it, and then plug it back in fully.

If you are using a composite cable (1 cable yellow plug), be sure you have plugged it in from yellow to yellow.

If you are using the component (3 cables red-green-blue plugs) hook-up, be sure you are using cables only designed for component hook-up, and have plugged them in correctly, red to red, green to green, blue to blue (Be sure you've plugged the red cable into the red video not red audio).

Are the cables in good condition?
No breaks, loose connectors, they weren't smashed under a piece of furniture?
Have you tried a different set of cables?
  3. Test the DVD player on another TV.
    Does the same thing happen?
Did you "Reset" the DVD player?
Maybe the DVD player is bad?
  4. Find another DVD player and test it with your TV.
Does it work OK, or is it black and white too?
Maybe the connectors on the TV are bad?
Is there a custom setting on the TV for that connection?
On some TVs you can adjust the settings for each input (INPUT 1, INPUT 2, ....) maybe the color setting is turned down?
There are may possibilities, but these are some of the basic things to check.
Best wishes,
-Greg-

I opened my Sony portable DVD player and my screen is white and black with lines on it, what do I do to fix it?

Your problem description does not give a clear idea about the issues. I'm considering the that the pictures are displaying in black and white for the new Portable DVD Player. Please follow the troubleshooting steps from the link given below:
http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=C89600

If the issue is with the screen, please reinsert the battery and check if that helps.

DVD player only plays DVD in black and white - what's wrong?

Ok,
I'm not sure what you mean by digibox. Under what conditions are you able to see things in color? Is a digibox a seperate device you can get to work with the same connection as your player? If one device displays color on the same connection and another doesn't then that seems to rule out the television being the problem. Can you clarify a little more?

DVD'S Play only in black and white

In UK this occures when an NTSC picture is played from a DVD player to a TV which cannot enitrely hand NTSC format. Possible this will happen in the reverse for USA.

Also my TV cannot handle SVHS signals and also displays them in black and white.

Try changing settings on the DVD Player to Composite or RGB.

Picture in Black & White

if you are using composite cables (yellow, red & white), make sure your yellow (video cable) is into the yellow output. if you plugged the wire into the green on the back of the dvd it will give you a black & white picute. But if it is in the yellow then you most likely have a problem with the dvd player that will need to be taken to a service center.
