Got a TomTom One-130 for Christmas. Initially turned on O.K., looked it over, but after I turned it off it won't come back on. Plugged into car-nothing. Linked up to computer-nothing.

Try to turn it on by holding the ON/OFF switch more than 15 seg. Do it several times if it does not work in the first time. Mine is only working this way. Antonio Cesar Brazil

The plastic suction cup attaches to your windscreen. You can see more of the device in www.tomtom.com
Your Motorola phone charger will not work and it may even damage your GPS! In the package you have a cigarrette lighter adapter for your car - the home charger (AC-charger) you have to purchase separately.
Connect your device with TomTom Home and access the memory (like if it was an external disk)
Create the following 2 files without ant extension in the root:
cleanflash
runclean
It will reset your devide to the original settings.
When starting it will ask you which language you want to use.
The solution to TomTom freezing problems is to throw these pieces of foreign made junk in the trash. My 130 never worked since it was new because it is a cheap bottom feeder GPS full of recycled Chinese components. The trash can is the solution.
Either faulty / corrupted files on the hard drive or a faulty hard drive ( not uncommon ) is causing this problem. Effectivley causing the TomTom to lock up as it cannot procede . In order for a tomtom to turn off normally , it needs to have fully loaded up normally. Your tomtom isn't loading up properly , hence the problem. If you have a backup of the tomtom hard drive ? ( I hope you backed up the files to your PC ) then you can try formatting the tomtom hard drive and copying the files back to it from your PC .
Good Luck.
it is defective, return it
