My new Kenmore Elite front loading washer (model 46742 - HE3t) draws in hot water when I want to run a cold water wash and vice versa. The repair technician ordered a new wire harness and will run an electrical test on both existing and new harnesses when to determine if the wire running to the hot water inlet is at the same at the cpu/board for both harnesses. If it's not the harness, it may be the cpu. Sound like a good troubleshooting plan?
I assume you verified the hoses are not crossed at the back of the machine??
:D
A better troubleshooting method is to call for a cycle of hot water and check that the proper solenoid on the water valve is being sent the signal. If it is, the water valve should be replaced.
