Often the battery contacts can get dirty. My Kodak does the same thing. When the camera tests the battery for power, the poor contacts make the camera think the battery is nearly empty so it shuts down. Give the contacts a good clean with alcohol and check they are correctly aligned. Clean the batteries too.

actually, if you really want your camera to work, you should have a memory card installed as well as the lens.

but if your question is will that work w/o the lens and memory card...of course it will turn on. but it wont function. what i mean is, you cant use it.
