I have a Honeywell HE260 humidifier installed in my forced hot air furnace controlled by a Honeywell Humidistat (no model number). The humidistat is installed in the return duct adjacent to the furnace. Both humidifier and humidistat are 10 years old. PROBLEM: After running the furnace and humidifier for a day there is a puddle of water at the base of the furnace. I've replaced the drip panel, checked and cleaned the drip pan and drain line and watch the excess water run out the drain line as its suppose to do. With the system running I don't see water dripping or running anywhere. I've also cycled it on and off and the water shuts off when the fan blower stops. I'm at a loss as to what to replace. Is it the solenoid or the humidistat? Thanks
Joe
Neither, even if the solenoid or humidistat stick, it should always drain properly. Is the unit mounted on the cold air return duct or the supply plenum? If it's mounted on the supply plenum, the water panel might be getting blown forward and spilling the water. High efficient furnaces also can leak water on the floor if its drain is restricted. If hum. is mounted on return duct make sure drain is clear by blowing through it. On Honeywell hum's I've seen the rubber hose from the solenoid valve to the distributor tray leak too, check the rubber 1/4" hose.
Unless you are using a current sensing relay or sail switch, you need to get the humidifier power from the blower motor supply so it only operates when the blower is on.
Since you can manually control the humidifier, there is not a fault with the solonoid.
