To add memory, for increased virtual memory it is to delete msic data from the hard drive, if it is your hard drive low on space you should purchase another hard drive and make the new hard drive as the slave to store more, on it. if not have a bigger hard drive installed, obtain a USB external hard drive. to add increased more memory you have to open the pc, add another sdram/dimm/ddr memory card.

Emachine T5234 beeps 5 times and won't turn on

5 Short BeepsYour motherboard is complaining. Try reseating the memory and rebooting. If that doesn't help, you should consider another motherboard. You could probably get away with just replacing the CPU, but that's not too cost-effective. Its just time to upgrade!

If you're running windows xp home edition and you have a windows disk you can reinstall windows and get the drivers from www.emachines.com. This same link might also have the restoration cds for about 25 bucks. check it out and good luck.

T2742 Desktop eMacine I want to upgrade the RAM from 256 MB to 1 GB. Can I replace the single 256 MB memory board with a single 1 GB memory board? Or, should I use two 512 MB memory boards?

Maximum Total Amount is 1GB.

EACH ram slot's Maximum Amount is 512MB.

Note* If you only install one ram memory module, make sure it goes into Slot 1.

(On the motherboard it may have DIMM 1, printed next to the slot)

Slot one is closest to the Processor. The processor reads ram memory that is in Slot 1, first.

I need to add space to my compaq presario desk top. i don't know how to on this computer. the model# SR5034X

If you want to increase cpu speed so you need to increase RAM memory.
You can fix it on motherbord of desktop cpu.
But if you have low space on disk storage partition so you can add space to desktop with 2 method.
(1) you can add harddisk to desktop cpu with sata or IDE .SATA harddisk is best if your motherbord support SATA.
You can add harddisk as you like for example 80 GB or 160 Gb.
(2) If you want to add RAM memory for speed reson you can purchase new RAm and fix it in memory module slot on motherbord.
There is 2 type on
RAM in currently.
DDR1 and DDR2

you can add RAM memory like 512 MB or 1GB or more.

Excessive paging, low memory, I've tried disk clean-up, defrag nothing is working what next?

Use fewer applications at a time, remove any unnecessary startup programs, stop an non-essential services. All of these can help, but if low memory is the problem, add more RAM. BTW, defragging a drive normally will not provide any kind of significant performance boost unless you are constantly using a lot of severely fragmented files.

If by low memory you are actually referring low disk space, that is an entirely different beast. In that case you can delete unnecessary files and uninstall programs you don't use or you can add another hard drive to the system. The drive can be internal (if you have space and connectors in the case for it) or external; connected by USB, FireWire, or eSATA (whichever your system supports).

Wont boot

If it is checking the key board and hard disk lights are ON ,then try fixing the memory card(s) frist after taking out one by one. If it still dont work check your hard disk by testing it on some other PC.If it dont work ther also than Disk is crashed.

Added 1 gb memory ddr400 to motherboard, no added memory

Yes, lots have changed. You changed the memory.

Step one. Goto Start, control panel, system. See how much memory is displayed. If its the same, then you have to update your "BIOS". goto the manufacturers website and click on support by your model # to do this.

If it shows the new memory, then your fine.

Let me know if this fixes it!
