Compaq mp1600 projector

I bought the video adaptor for my compaq 1600 projector, it said it was compatible with a compaq mp1600 or 1800 projector. I hooked it up to my projector and it doesn't work with my DVD player. The projector works great with my computer. I would like th option of being able to use my DVD or videoplayer also. What am I doing wrong?

Is the projector saying "input signal out od range"? if not, check the output signal type on DVD player, it must out put to either S-Video or RCA video, however you have hooked.

SOURCE: compaq projector

Hi gambill32

If the VGA is a output you could get a converter that takes VGA to Component ( RGB ) and hook up the 3 x component RCA's to the TV 's component in.

This converter can be found at most good PC and AV shops.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya.

P.S. If you need any further guidance , just send me a request.

When I connect the projector to my PC after the COMPAQ image goes away, it displays "Check Video Cable". What does that mean?

you may need to turn on dual monitor on your computer. sometimes just restarting the PC while connected will do it as well.

Any of the following part numbers will work:

All are identical parts, HP/Compaq uses different part numbers for the same part in many cases depending on which distribution channel is used.

Dlp color whel glas

The projector is easy to open. whole side comes off including half silver bit at top you need to search for little rubber dots about 4mm in diameter, pick them out with a knive then undo the screws you will also need to remove one of the hex screws that the vga cable screws into. will not hurt to remove both, just use some pliers to loose them. Also remove the bulb door.
