Toshiba 65Hx81 model rear projection

We acquired this T.V. from my dad. The picture is darker now than it was. We have tried making color adjustments. Any suggestions?

The picture tubes dim over time. It's possible they need to be replaced and/or cleaned. There are 3 of them (one blue, one red, and one green).

Color looks white washed!!!

there are in the older rear projection sets lens for those that do not use a lamp for a light source.

In the older sets there are three large black lens that can be seen and reached with the rear cover off---if there clean them as they are the light source in those sets and if dusty picture will look dull and darker than it once did.

If in doubt shoot me a model number.

How to fix my hitachi 65 tv

If you are saying that the picture is getting darker and you have already tried to adjust the picture through the menu feature on your TV then it is more than likely the cooling fluid around the CRT tubes. Over time the fluid in these tubes gets cloudy and causes your TVs picture to become dull and distorts the color. You can google tv repair kits .com and I believe they will have a kit for your model.

The picture is not very bright

Good Day;

If this is a rear projection you may need to clean the lenses and mirror and try adjusting the contrast. If it is a direct view your picture tube maybe going soft (bad). If it's a Phillips/ Magnavox change CRT coolant.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Red power light flashs red

Those are nice looking tv's. Unfortunately it might be the convergence board IC's that failed. (color alignment controller) This isn't a DIY project, usually cost around $300 a failed IC. You might at least have a technician diagnose it for sure. Then you'll know whether to invest or save up for something new.

You might have burned out the red color crt. In projection TV's there are 3 CRT's (one for blue one for red, and one for green). If you have the other 2 colors but no red I would assume this is your problem. You should be able to get it fixed for around $150.

Toshiba 65hx81 65" Rear Projection tv. black & white color/green

Yep, your problem is a relatively easy one to repair if you know how to solder. You better repair it before it blows the fuse though. There are two capacitors in the main power supply that are coming loose and need to be re soldered. There is a Toshiba service bulletin about it. They are marked C809 and C810 on the main power supply board. Good Luck
