The supported format is not avi but MPEG4,so you need to convert the AVI files to MPEG4,A AVI to MPEG4 video converter can just help you deal with it.I recommend this avi to MPEG4 video converter to you which I have used long with no shortcomings.
please make sure that first the video format is mpeg4(mp4). second, please make sure that the video quality is appropriate for your mp3 device's viewing screen. if a video is in 480x360 format and a you have a screen that is 360x280, it will not play because its screen does not have the pixel capacity to do so. so please make sure that the video quality is appropriate for your device.
dear chellu lg gd510 works with 3gp and mpeg4 format. some times mpeg4 formatted videos cannot be played due to resolution problem. while in full screen mode it doesn't give complete full screen effect, while playing 3gp videos. it is better to convert videos using "ANY VIDEO CONVERTER" FREE to download. it is a customized resolution converter. choose resolution as 400*240. use customized mpeg4 format. more support log on to http://www.neonetcrammer.blogspot.com
If there's no database or firmware problem, it should play mp4 audio streaming files, but remember, it doesn't support "Mp4" video files. It supports only ."3gp" video files and "mpeg4.rm".
If you have installed or if you use application like smart movie, then definitely it would support other formats too. But unless you install additional codec, it'll never be able to play other files except 3gp and mpeg4.rm.

you need to install the mpeg4 codecs drivers for your hand held this quite a new machine out in the world so i wouldnt know if they have the new conversion codecs out yet for mpeg4 on hand held devices i havent checked up mpeg4 but it was on my todo list
but thats all it is is updateing codec modules to mpeg4 multimedia
