Dell Optiplex 755 machines - TSST corp L632 drive-won't read CDs.

I have several Dell Optiplex 755 machines. Those with the TSST corp DVD+-RW TS-L632 CD drive can burn data to a CD, but CANNOT read CDs, including the CD burned on that machine. I can take the CD to another machine with a NEC DVD+- RW drive and read the CD. How can I fix the machines with the TSST drive so they can read CDs?

TSSTcorp TS-L632 (B) drive is writing CDs, reading DVDs but not writing DVDs.

First check that your drive is indeed a DVD writer and not a 'hybrid' i.e. CD writer and DVD reader. If it is, go on the manufacturer's site and see if they have Win 8 compatible drivers - Win 8 is a fairly new OS so they may not have had time to get a new one out.

Code 39. Windows cannot download device. Driver

Go to http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/upperfilters-lowerfilters.htm for the solution. I had a similar problem (Code 39) with my optical drives and Windows 7 64-bit. This solution corrected it.

My Tsst corp cdw/dvd Ts-h492a will not read my dvd-r cds

It does not matter. The laptop drive would have the shiny head on the tray in the sliding part.

TSST Corp CD/DVD RW TS-L632M ATA device wont play discs. Driver is current

I also have the TSST cd/dvd with the same problem but I just realized that is a comflict between all these programs I have installed (Windows Media Player, Sonic and Roxio Easy Creator 6). WMP will not even show it, then I went to Roxio audio central an it worked perfectly. I tried to change the default back to WMP but it wont take it. I believe this happens because Roxio was the last I installed and took control of the sound. Hope this help. I will be uninstalling my WMP and installing it again so that I can keep it as my first choice.
