I have a magnavox mwd2205 dvd/vcr combo with no remote. I've tried programming it to my Charter cable remote and to a GE universal remote, but can't get it to do anything but turn the machine on and off. Is there a way to get it programmed so I can activate the dvd then chose special features , or do I need to get a remote especially made for this dvd/vcr?

Universal remote does not work with Magnavox combo of dvd vcr, because no dubbing button. But magnavox has many remotes that will NB884, NB559, NB677.NB627 which also works on Sharp dvd vcr combo.

Sorry but a code you want doesn't exist.

You have to have a specific remote from Magnavox or a remote that falls roughly in this line of models. The best you can get out of universal is the On/Off commands.

not sure but it sounds like you need to push the dvd button itself before dvd functions will work-it's to the left of the pause button. same thing happened to me and when i try that it works. remote seems to default to vcr i guess ....

Magnavox VCR. The Phillips universal remote lists the following codes:0330, 0430, 0534, 0324, 0224, 0124, 0247, 0230, 0125, 0093, 0598, 0830. Doesn't seem they have much control of which code gets used on which model. Start in the middle and work both ways to the ends. Make sure to post back which one you find that works.

I found that on the back of the 2205 it said that the unit was made by Funai. I looked in the Innovage book and found that the codes for Funai DVD are 231 and 233. 233 worked on mine. Good luck.
