I have a Optoma RD65 DLP television. I have shading on the right side of the screen. It started small about an inch wide but is now probably 4 inches wide. You can still see the picture behind the shading, someone suggested that it possibly got bumped (I have 2 kids but neither are owning up to it, not suprising) and the mirrors are out of adjustment. Any suggestions on how to correct this?

DLP image problems are usually related to the digital video board, will probably not be cheap. might even need a new light engine. good luck Julio [email protected]
turning off the main can be very harmful to rear projectors if you dont wait for the cooling off period, for instance when you turn off the tv from the remote, the fans inside are still on in order to dissipate the heat given out by the lamp. as a result some of the lens inside the engine may have burns-in caused by excess of heat.thus leading to shadows on the screen.
Search with google for optoma rd65 (no hyphen) once you get the first set of results, scroll to the bottom of the page, click search within results and search replacement remote. this is just one site I found. http://www.remotes.com/store/optoma/rd65.html
This is the same problem as other posts have mentioned about the right side of the screen having a bluish-balck stripe down the side of the screen. Here's what's happening. There's a small light tunnel which has 4 very small mirrors located just behind the color wheel. The lamp shines light through the color wheel as it turns and the light goes through this small tunnel and is then relected off several mirrors before it is projected through the lens and onto the screen. Optoma apparently did not use a very good heat resistant expoxy glue when they assembled these mirrors and over time the mirrors drop down causing a shadow effect on the screen. It can be repaired without paying some repair shop a small fortune. Previous posts have a solution from another contributer whihc includes photos. I had to repair mine and it's worked fine since I used a decent expoxy to hold the mirrors.
i beleive its electrical problem (horizontal circuit). if u are not inclined with this job just bring it there and besides they will give you warranty for their work.
