Mpeg4 video files don't get recognized by the two different 8 gb MISSIL players my 7 yr old daughter & her mom got for gifts. They realy want these things to work. I thought the mp4 files I'd downloaded would play once put into the video folder but they don't. Once I did get to the point where it asked if I wanted to build list after putting mp4 files in the video folder, I said yes, it sat there for a while and did it's thing but after that when I went to the "movie" selection in the player's main menu it said the disk was empty. Also, there is no "video" selection in the main menue; "movie" is the closest approximation. Mp3 files will play once in the music folder though. I installed the player disk tool utility software, but it even after my computer has obviously recognized the device and I put files onto it the utility software will not & instead exclaims the message "Not detected removable disk! Please check the disk connecting, or reboot system!" Confounding these problems I cannot find the instruction manuals, they may have gone out in the trash. I can't find these manuals online or a website for missil online. I did find a street adress and phone number for a Missil electonics manufacturer Sweden. Missil.com is useless. Weird. Perhaps I need to convert the files to the proper screen sizes. I downloaded a converter from mympxplayer.org but am oblivious to the resolutioh of the player's screens. Missil 8gb and both are advertized as 1.8 in screen size at Davis (http://www.davismicro.com/MP4-Players-st1-sid1.html?gclid=CPuVxLTD954CFREMDQodPB9Byg) but when you look at them the screens are obviously different sizes physicaly. The players are different shapes too. One is the longer version, the other is nearly square.

Uploading songs onto the Missil flashMP3 player

Drivers required only for Win98. Other versions on Windows have drivers installed. Plug usb cord into PC and into Missil Player. Open my computer, removable disk which is the Missil player) and file where desired music is. Drag music from storage file to "removable disk in "my computer". Treat it as a hard drive copy to, delete or format. To continue playing where you left off when restarting, hold off/pause button down for 3 seconds before shutting off.

Imac and downloading video

Though I am not familiar with this camcorder, it probably creates an MPEG4 file. To get it into iMovie (depending on your version of iMovie) you may have to convert it to something that iMovie can understand. Try opening the file with a free program called MPEG Streamclip (www.squared5.com). If it is recognized, export it to either Quicktime or DV. IMovie should be able to open one of those.
