Battery Exhausted message ( even with new batteries)
Yeh its bull **** it happens to me aswell
Same problem. Seems to related to cold temperature.
Leaving out the batteries some time may help.
Had success also by factory reset end once
by replacing batteries by fresh alkalines.
I don't know if I have the very same problem with my old nikon Coolpix E44600. I may go through the pictures I have already taken but when I try to take a new one, just as I shoot I get the message the "battery exausted" message and the camera shut down.

I am getting the same problem, please advise if anyone has a solution. I have tried rechargeables and regular alkaline batteries.
I didn't think anyone else had this problem...I just thought is was my bad luck. I bought new batteries....changed my rechargable pack....no luck.
I have the exact same error...
I have the same problem with my Nikon Coolpix S510. The store replaced the first camera it sold me but now the second has developed a problem. So it's back to the store today. Honestly, I'm not impressed with the camera.
Same as everyone else. Even when fresh batteries are installed, the low battery warning flashes. You might be able to take a few pictures but then the camera will say "battery exhausted" and shut off.
So, I am not the only one, I've also problems with the Nikon Coolpix L12 battery. Iam not able to shot more than app. 5 pictures on 1 set of battery's. Nikon gave me the advice to remove the battery's for more than 24hours, and then try again, but I don't think this will solve my problem....Otherwise I shoot send the camera to a "Nikon service center" accourding the Nikom helpdesk
Same problem with my Coolpix L12. As soon as you turn it on it says "battery exhausted" even after installing new batteries (repeatedly).
Same problem as others here and thousands of others elsewhere I bet. When are these companies gonna stand by their ****? I used my camera about 3 times and of course the warranty has expired. What a waste of $160!
I turn it on, it says "Warning! Battert Exhausted". I put in new batteries (two different new sets), it continues to LIE !
I have a coolpix L12. When I put in freshly charged NiMH batteries, I get "battery exhausted message within a few minutes or a few pictures.
Only putting in Alkaline batteries seems to make any difference. I have the camera set to battery type: NiMH in the setup.
I am having this problem to with my new Nikon Coolpix S550, i have just purchased this two days ago. When i went out side to take photos for my photography course in school, it had said battery exhausted aftre only 4 pics. Then I went inside and changed it for the regular amount of time for a full battery. I went back out to finish take pictures and after 2 pictures it had said it again. At this moment i am have it charge for the rest of the day and all night and see what happens. Other then that i think this is one of the best cameras i have ever had, because the flash does not mess up close up pictures.
My Coolpix L12 just started getting the Battery fault message after 4 or 5 pics too! It has always worked fine before just using regular AA Alkaline batteries. I love my camera and want it fixed as soon as possible.
This is the worst camera ever. I get the Batteries Exhausted message. Even though I put in fresh batteries and set the battery type to Alkaline. You can not rely on this camera. One day it works and the next it doesn't.
