My 5100 left button got stuck in the down position. I wiggled it to get it back to the the normal/up position. Then I put some 'scotch' tape on the button and over the frame around the button. The goal is that the tape will keep the button from going in too far. I haven't had to change the tape in six months.

Good Luck,

Not working right click of touch pad of Acer Aspire 4710z

Hey!

What operating system are you running? All I could find was a manual for your model: http://tinyurl.com/6gc7pl

If you are using Windows XP, you might try going to Control Panel -> Mouse -> On the first tab (Buttons) check "Switch primary and secondary buttons." then hit "Apply".

Try left-clicking (currently assigned to be the right-click) on your Start button and see if the menu with "Explore All Users" on the very bottom opens. If it does, then your touchpad is most likely defective and would have to be fixed (www.fixmyacer.com). If the menu doesn't come up, then it is a software issue and is 100% fixable.

Make sure that it is turned on in the control panel and that the drivers are up to date and are the right one by the manufacturers.

THE 4-way scroll button IN MY ASPIRE 5100 DOESNT WORK

Double click the icon in the toolbar. Click the device settings tab and then hit setting. select buttons in the list on the left side. Hit the plus sign(maximize) and select scroll up button action....scroll down button action...Etc. For each action select what you want it to do and just hit apply and move to the next. Once you have selected the action for scroll up, down , left, and right hit apply again just to be sure and try it. It should work. I just did it on my 5630 but Im assuming it works the same.
