sounds like the drive is broken. get a new drive then try again. this has happened to me.

There is no need to reset the BIOS if the Toshiba boots up normally.
The BIOS/CMOS configures the various devices in the laptop so it function correctly.

Try Reinstalling the audio drivers

hmmm..try it safe mode first(F8) and then see if your video card is happy through control panel

restart the pc and ensure up to date virus protection and spyware protection and run full scans of both. all else fails format the drive and reinstall windows

Make sure the wireless power switch on the right side (next to the USB port) is turned on.

The hard drive should work fine thats a standard IDE drive.

For the overheating problem you probably just need to clean the fans with a can of compressed air. That series gets clogged pretty easily. Just blow from the bottom of the laptop where you see the fan towards the outlet in the rear.

You can boot from a USB floppy drive to do a bios upgrade - you can get USB floppies for $20 or so.
