I acquired this TV and opened up the back because it will not turn on. The power light comes on but there is no picture. The boards have a thick blanket of dust over them. Will that cause the TV not to work?
It could, but highly unlikely. Does the power light blink series of blink then pause for a second? Let me know it may be going into shutdown and blinking a diagnosis code.
Does it click when you push the power button? If no it may be something as simple as the relay. If it does click then you will need to check the horizontal output and regulator transistors in the power supply. That is the board on the right side looking into the back of the set.
On the Right board there location numbers are Q551, Q701, Q1504, Q801 they are attached to aluminum heat sinks.
I will research those numbers and post the info in a little while for you.

The red light on the TV does NOT blink when you turn it on. There is no picture.
It does click and I have the back off already. Where and what does the horizontal output and regulator transistors in the power supply look like?
How do I test them? I have an ohm meter.
I only one I found that started with a Q and it is Q854. Arr there more and how do you test them? I guess just as importantly, where do you find them and how much are they?
If this helps, the serial number is mx33120777 and the number under that is ap825.
There is another number on the back of the TV by the speaker plugs TBM2AC0441.
The front says HDTV 1080i.
Have you found anymore information about the serial numbers I provided for you?
