At first when I turned on my sansa, the light would be a dim blue until I let go of the power button. I held the menu button for 30 seconds to turn it off, now nothing happens. I had the same problem. Place the device into hold and press the menu and mic buttons at the same time. The first time I tried it, I had no response and then I pressed the same buttons again and my e260 came back to life.
After getting my e260 to come on, I updated the firmware and everything has been working.

There is a trick to charging the battery in these small mp3 players. It wont charge if it is turned on, and it won't charges if it's turned off. Here what to do... 1. plug the payer into your USB port. or wall charger 2. switch thje palyer on using the mechanical switch (on the side) 3. turn it off by either holding down the play button, or selecting "System" from the menu 4. The screen will go black and the battery will begin charging.
Hi,
This problem indicates that it is stuck from inside . You just keep on pressing menu option and keep on pressing the center button for 2 minutes it will solve your problem .
It actually worked for me that's why I am sharing this .
If you still have a problem let me know .
i have the same SANSA e260.....and the same problem....its easy just turn on your sansa then push the menu botton, slide the wheel in the center and at the end of the options say USB enter there and change usb mode from MTP to MSC mode.....and ready
There could be a slight problem of it being frozen so try holding down the off button for 10 or 20 seconds and hopefully it will turn off or on that could be the problem or maybe not.
that happens to me too. i think the problem is that your computer can't like, sense that it's plugged in, so your battery's dying out, and the computer wont charge it
The battery may have become disconnected from the contacts, therefore it will not charge the battery but lights up when connected to the PC.
Remove the 4 screws on the back, remove and re-seat the battery. Charge the device for a few hours.
Best of Luck.
p.s.- you can add to this question if this didnt help.
Plug it into the computer (the cord you would use to charge it and transfer files), and hold down the power button for at least 15 seconds. The Sansa should then begin to turn on and start charging. :)
