The ViviCam X327 does not record sound to go with its videos. You can add a soundtrack using video-editing software on a computer, but you cannot record one on the camera.

I know this wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

Is there a program out there that will convert my old cassette tapes or vinyl...

The short answer is yes. There is a program out there that will record cassette tapes or vinyl records to CD. Today, I will show you how. If you have the right software and the right cords, getting your cassettes and Vinyl onto your computer, then onto CDs, is a pretty easy task. Just follow the steps below and you will be on your way to bringing your audio into the 21st century! What you need: To make the conversion, you will need a (free) audio recording program, a tape or record player and a cord to connect the device to your computer. Here's a breakdown:
1. Audacity. This is the program that will record your audio to your computer.
2. LAME-encoder. This is a file that will convert your audio to MP3.
3. A record player or cassette player. Hopefully you already have one of these.
4. A cord to connect the player to your computer.

The first step is to install Audacity and LAME,
Now that we have the software installed, we can look at connecting your tape player, or record player, to your computer.
Your player will have one of two types of outputs. You will either have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, or RCA audio output jacks.
If your device has RCA outputs (left image)to connect to your computer.
If your device has a 3.5mm jack (right image) to connect to your computer.
The other end of the cable will connect to the line in jack on your computer

Now that we have the software installed and the cassette/record player connected to the computer, let's record something!
Put a cassette or LP into your player. Get the player to the place where you want to start recording and pause or stop the player.
Now, let's stop messing with all this hardware and get the computer set up. First, go to your control panel and open your audio settings.
In XP, go to the audio tab and click "volume" under sound recording. Place a check next to "line in". If you don't see a "line in" option go to options and click advanced. Place a check next to "line in" there.
In Vista/7 go to the recording tab. find your line in, select it then choose "set default". Click on "properties", go to the levels tab and turn up the level to 80 or 100. (This varies depending on what you are recording so you may need to adjust this to get it right).
As you can see, Audacity is pretty much a more advanced sound recorder. To begin recording, press the play button on your record/cassette player then click the red "record" circle on audacity. You are now recording to your computer! When you are done, click stop on audacity and press stop on your player.
After recording, you can now export your audio as an MP3. Go to the file menu and click "Export as MP3". You can now choose the name of the file and save to wherever you want. You are done recording!

I have a Toshiba Laptop PC. It is a Satellite Pro L300 Series. I wonder if it has a built in microphone so that I can add a voice/music clip to my power point slides. I do not have a separate...

Most laptops do have Microphones built in. I do not know for definate that your laptop does, but you can easily test it to find out.

1. Go to the volume control (double click the speaker icon near the clock on the taskbar), go to recording properties and select microphone as the recording source and set the slider to about 80%.

2. Bring up microsoft sound recorder (its in the start menu somewhere) and click record... when you speak you should see a voice print appear in the sound recorder window.

If you do not see a voiceprint, then you probably dont have a built in microphone, but if you do see a voiceprint as you speak then you do have a microphone built in and you can record into your powerpoint shows to your hearts content.

Hope this helps!

How to use a microphone on the computer to record

To record your sound via microphone in Windows XP
go to START> All Programs> Accessories> Entertainment> Sound Recorder
The software will open. Now click on the record button to start recording.
25da8e3.jpg
To save the the recorded sound go to FILE menu and select save.
This software has certain limitations like you can only record sound for 60 seconds. After that you have to extend the time manually by clicking on the RECORD button again.
Here are some useful free sound capturing & mixing software:

Try googling for more software.
Hope that Helps.

I want to put my LPs to an external hard drive, what do i have to do?

Plug your turn table into your input sound card (line in on your sound card) Use a program like Nero Media Player, or any digital recording program ( Sound Blaster or Wave Studio) Tell it to save the file as mp3, that simple. If you are an experienced Computer user and have a Wave Recording program such as Audacity [free] or Adobe Audition [$$$] you can do this: 1. Your record player must have a LINE OUT.....usually go from your stereo receiver [You can get turntables with internal Line outputs...this is what I have...via ebay] 2. Output from Receiver [turntable] must be the small [headphone like plug...used to be called Sony Plug...now it's the 3/32nd I believe.... 3. plug this into the line in of the sound card....it's the arrow that points INTO the little hole. Now the sound card can read the signal.....but wait...! 4. You must enable the little box in the sound card properties called "Line IN"....put the check mark there. 5. How to get to the Properties? Bottom right of screen there should be a speaker ICON....double click that. Then go to File....Properties....record.....then look for the LINE IN....check it. If you don't see it. Then you have to ask someone in person to help you. 6. If you get it working. Great! 7 Now open a recording program and press record....then play the record. You should see a wave file going across the screen. Then save it as an MP3 file. 8. Advanced tip: if you record at a rate of 59594 instead of 44100 then you can play the 33 1/3 speed at 45 RPM and save about 30% time in recording from a record. Then convert back to 44100 and it will be normal speed. I do this on ALL my LP to MP3 recordings... The above is for more advance type computer users.

Audio on Dell Webcam Central And voice record isn't working

I have a Dell 1545 with Dell web cam central & I've had this issue. The problem is that Dell web cam central installs it's own microphone settings onto your laptop called something like Dell web cam Live!. This isn't the built in microphone in my laptop & maybe not yours either. You have to change the settings for your computer system & Dell web cam central. Go to start> control panel> sound> recording .. on mine there is an option for Microphone "High Definition Audio Device" ... that is the built in mic. You want that for your default & apply it. Also .. as a side note .. I disabled the web cam central Live! microphone completely from this window. Then open Dell web cam central & go to the "Record Video's" option. In the middle of this is an orange button with a video camera icon. Next to this on the same button is a little arrow pointing down .. click that. Under microphone .. choose Microphone "High Definition Audio Device" just like the sound option in control panel. I've done this & it's completely fixed. I can record videos with sound & use my built in mic in voice/video chat.
