Followup question for bansheracer re: old Livia 90

I cleaned the water sensing probes but it didn't fix the problem, The problem is the relay won't close when power switch is turned on. If I bypass the relay with a jumper wire, then the heater light comes on. Its a new relay. so somehow the problem seems to be in completing the neutral side circuit which would power up the oil that opens the main relay. Any other ideas?

Do you have any lights on?
Try removing the water tank's ground wire. Ground it to the frame at one of the grounding locations and see if the machine will respond. If it does then the water does not have enough mineral for the computer to see. Add some tap water.

Water gushes out of the group when back washing.

If you replaced the group gasket, then you might want to check the top of the blind filter basket to make sure it has no dents. If you were having the same problem while brewing espresso, I would say carefully remove the gasket and clean the head thoroughly then use a mirror and check to make sure there is no coffee or small pieces of rubber in there then put the gasket back on and try to brew a coffee. Since the problem is only happening when you backwash the only thing different is the basket.

The machine does not produce water and makes loud ticking noise- pressure gauge spikes and release valve blows. What do you think is causing that-

Hi
That sounds like a couple of problems. For one the pressurestat is sticking and causing the pressure relief valve to release steam pressure. The second one is your probes are getting scaled and causing eratic water level senseing. They need to be cleaned. Replace the pressurestat first.

After several failures, I replaced the pressure stat on my Pasquini Livia 90, only to find that the water would not heat. I put back the old stat, but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help?

Hi
Check the wire on the water reservoir to make sure that it is properly connected.
Check to make sure the wire connection is clean and making good contact.
If the machine turns on the connection is dirty, so you will need to remove nut and clean.
There is a level probe on top of the boiler (actually 2) The right one (yellow wire) is the low level probe and it will not let the boiler turn on unless it sences water at the probe. If it is scaled it can't tell if there is water in the boiler and the element will not heat. Remove and clean the probe.

Hi
I would check the level probes on top of the boiler. There is a yellow wire going to the high level( left) and a green wire going to the low (right) probe. The probes get scaled and do not sense water. If there is no sensing of the right probe ( low water) it will not heat. They both need to be cleaned. There is a nut or a big nut that will allow for the removal. Clean both probes and it should go back to normal.

Hi
there are a couple things you might try. There is a screw in the top of the pressurestat. Turn the screw counter clockwise to lower the pressure.
The light should go off just before the 11:30 position on the gauge.

There are 2 probes on top of the boiler that needs cleaning every so often. A yellow and a green wire connect to the top of the probes. Loosen the small nut about 2 turns or all the way out.
Then pull on the probes to remove then. Sometimes it comes out with the white seal. that is OK. Clean the bottom of the probes and then reinstall.
Yellow goes on the left and green on the right.

Livia 90 Semi Automatic pump won't shut off during shot

Bansheracer is possibly correct. But, most likely the problem is the copper feed pipe to the boiler is plugged with calcium allowing the pump to continuously run without stopping. Most likely this is a problem you will need to have serviced. We are located in orange county, CA, and we can service, or Pasquini can service at 1501 West Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles 90015. If you are not in CA, let us know where you are located so we can send you to the closest authorized pasquini service center near you.

All 3 lights on Livia lighting up with hot water use

Is this a Livia 90 semi or auto ?? It sounds as if you are talking about an auto. The autos have had a history of the cpu controller board going out. Probably going to have to take it in for service for proper diagnostic repair. Parts are not cheap and with no warranty- you don't want to start throwing parts at it to get it working right.
