Dish 510 DVR that wont record properly or play paused TV show

I have a dish 510 DVR that used to pause TV shows and record them just great.

Lately, this system will rewind a live show (slowly), and the playback stutters unacceptably.

Recordings report a "file system error" is there some way to reinitialize the harddisk, so that disk errors can be repaired? I'm pretty sure it just needs to be defragged or equivalent.

System reboots (without unplug) don't solve the problem.

thanks,

Make sure that the software is correct. Should be P4.07
you can go into the DVR and replace the hard drive but I would suggest getting Dish Home Plan, Replace the receiver and then cancel the Home Plan. Talk to Dish Network and they will work with you.

My VIP622 keeps jumping back to live TV when I try to back up while watching live TV, or if I resume playing after pausing. But if I've recorded a whole program, I can play, pause, back up okay.

Hello, my name is Daniel Busa with Dish Network customer service, I reviewed your question I have seen this before, t sounds like its possibly a bad hard drive try unplugging your reciever for ten seconds if it's persisting then we may need to replace it.

My dvr shows a 1hr program fully recorded, and begins playback fine. After almost 10 min playback ends but when paused, continues to show another 50 min available.

Hello! Daniel Busa with Dish Network here. That actually happened to me about a month ago a hard reset resolved it for me. If that doesn't do it try deleting all of the recordings that don't play back correctly, reset it again and keep an eye on things, it may be a bad box.

If I pause live TV, the DVR will frequently stop pausing and return to live TV and will not allow me to go in reverse. Also, the DVR is sometimes slow to respond to remote control commands, particularly...

paul_grizza,

Are you still having problems with your receiver? Anytime you are not able to perform DVR functions, it is usually an indication of a hard drive problem. Are you getting an error message (maybe 024) when the functions are not working? Please let me know if you are still having problems and I would be happy to assist you.

DVR refuses to rewind or pause live TV or record

ruukasu2005,

If you are still experiencing problems with your 625 receiver performing live DVR functions, try unplugging the receiver for about 10 seconds and plugging back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and acquire satellite signal. After the picture returns, then try to pause. If it still doesn't work, then we may need to replace the receiver. I hope this helps.

I can't pause or rewind my moveie

fktrejo,

When you try to use the DVR features, do you get an error message (024 or 311)? Have you unplugged your 625 receiver yet? If not, unplugged the receiver for about 10 seconds and plug back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and acquire satellite signal. When the picture comes back on, try to pause. If it still doesn't work, we may need to replace the 625 receiver. I hope this helps.

Copy shows from dishnetwork 510 receivers to external hd

ic_technolog,

External Hard Drives are not supported on the 510 receiver. The 211, 211k, 411, 612, 622, 722, 722k, and 922 are all capable of having an external hard connected via the USB port on the receiver and a one time activation fee of $40. I hope this helps.

Dvr not working. Won't record, pause rewind

Try unplugging the unit from the electrical outlet for about five minutes- much longer than required- and try it again. If this fails you will need a service technician to resolve the issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Want to copy shows recorded to DVR onto computer Howto...

ArmyMason,
Unfortunately as a Dish Network Employee I must inform you that acording to Dish that is not possible however a good computer tech may be able to help you with a work around but keep in mind that if any damage occurs to the receiver that Dish will charge you for the receiver. When you do upgrade check into the receiver models that have an expansion port for an external hard drive. A 211 which is a solo hidefinition receiver without DVR can have a port activated for as one time charge of 39.99 and you can use the hard drive you supply as the DVR. Yoiu also will not be accessed the 5.98 DVR fee every month and if the receiver needs replacing you still have your recordings. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
