I wanted to use my ISP' email server, faster and no kodak advertising attached, here's what I did in version 7, now also version 8.
First click on "email" on the left side of the easyshare screen, then click on email settings at the top of the page and make sure that email with attachments is checked.

then go to the easyshare program folder normally at:
C:\Program Files\Kodak\Kodak EasyShare software\bin\ini\VistaEmail.ini

find the file ESAcct.ini and double click it.(you may want to make a copy of it somewhere just in case) in the file you will see:

[ACCOUNT_INFO]
EMAIL=
PW=
enter your ISP's mail server address at the EMAIL entry and your email password if required by your ISP at the PW like so,

[ACCOUNT_INFO]
EMAIL=mail.smtpserver.com
PW=mailpassword

of course these entries have to be YOUR server and password not the examples above. save the ESAcct.ini file.

Now find and double click the VistaEmail.ini file, again you may want to save a copy of it also.
Find the line

SMTPServer=picturecd.kodak.com

and change it to your smtp server address, just like above,

SMTPServer=mail.smtpserver.com

save this file. If easyshare is open you may have to close it (shut down easy share) and re open it.

If you are connected to the internet you should now be sending your photos through your ISP's mail server. No more long delays and no more kodak advertisements with your emailed photos!

CONNECT THE TWO AND PING EACH OTHER BOTH WAYS, THEN TRY TO ACCESS THE FILE SHARES ON THE SERVER TO MAKE SURE THE CONNECTION IS REAL AND LIVE.

YOU SHOULD KNOW THE USER ID FOR THE EMAIL ADDRESS YOU ARE GOING TO DOWNLOAD AS WELL AS THE PASSWORD.....
CONFIGURE YOUR EMAIL CLIENT....

IN THE INCOMING AND THE OUTGOING SERVERS OF THE EMAIL CLIENT YOU HAVE TO PUT THE NETWORK NAME THAT WAS GIVEN ON THE EMAIL SERVER TO THE HAMACHI CLIENT.

NEXT IS TO ADD THAT NAME AND THE HAMACHI IP ADDRESS IN THE HOSTS FILE SO THAT THE DNS IS RESOLVED CORRECTLY.....

Benefits and drawbacks associated with the adoption of network cpmputers

depends on the setup of the network for one. if it just simple setup then allows sharing of files, a single internet connection, some standalone capability for any problems if the computers get virus infection, internal emails/memos and some network back ups. downside software licence for many separate computers.server based. the computers can access one source for information. allowing users to log in and get their files from any machine. easy backups, licensing can work out cheaper for many machines. very easy to share information. however vulnerable to viruses, can be expensive to maintain if external company setup. servers can be expensive to buy and everyone has a problem if the network crashes, often no one can use the computers if not working.
networking is generally a positive thing and id recommend it.
hope this helps

Xerox scanning error 027-516:server connection error in smb

This means that your machine cannot connect to the network share to which it is supposed to write the scanned documents.
There may be several causes:
- if it worked before, perhaps the server or computer with shared folder to which the Xerox unit is configured to write files is unavailable/switched off, or the shared folder is not shared anymore or has changed security permissions, preventing the Xerox from writing, or the share name has changed
- if it never worked, perhaps the Xerox needs configuring prior to use (how it should deliver the faxes, via network share or email). Refer to it's manual on how to configure scan delivery.

I have a problem with a printer which is connected locally to a pc (comp1) on the network. I can access it from one pc but can not access from 3 other pc. I have three printers locally connected and...

Hi Shueb,

First off, I assume if your running a network, you'd have a server based product running. If so, I would have the server manage the printer as a shared printer. This can be accomplished by setting up the share either in your management console or your active directory. Then the server will administer the rights to the printer. If your running a network with just workgroups, then you will have to right click the printer and go to share and security. From there go to permissions and make sure that the users on those machines have permission to access it.

A real easy way to connect a shared printer on a network is to browse through the entire network icon, and click on the machine that is sharing that printer, and when you see the printer right click it, and go to connect printer, and that's it. As long as you've got all the drivers for all the different OS's on the differnent machine, it will install the driver and give you access.

Good Luck,
Mark

D-link cant accesed internet 4pc

Most of DSL modems are connected to PC with USB cable...
n if ur server is connected with other pc on lan .. you can use internet sharing option available in winxp.

Following are the steps to enable Internetsharing for other pcs.

How to use Internet Connection Sharing loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); To use Internet Connection Sharing to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter that is configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem that is configured to connect to the Internet.

On the host computer loadTOCNode(3, 'summary'); On the host computer, follow these steps to share the Internet connection:
  1. Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Network and Internet Connections.
  4. Click Network Connections.
  5. Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet. For example, if you connect to the Internet by using a modem, right-click the connection that you want under Dial-up.
  6. Click Properties.
  7. Click the Advanced tab.
  8. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.
  9. If you are sharing a dial-up Internet connection, select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box if you want to permit your computer to automatically connect to the Internet.
  10. Click OK. You receive the following message: When Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP
    address 192.168.0.1. Your computer may lose connectivity with other computers on
    your network. If these other computers have static IP addresses, it is a good idea to set them
    to obtain their IP addresses automatically. Are you sure you want to enable Internet
    Connection Sharing?
  11. Click Yes.
The connection to the Internet is shared to other computers on the local area network (LAN). The network adapter that is connected to the LAN is configured with a static IP address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

let me know if it helps.

best regards,

Hello Sir,

As my internet is shared through cc proxy
I have to put proxies to all of my programs so that they can run.
Unfortunatelly the only one I cannot get running is outlook express.
When I try to edit the outlook proxy settings it sends me to Internet Explorer's settings
(which makes me think that outlook and internet explorer share the same proxy settings).
The strangest thing is that IE runs with no problems
but outlook express cannot connect to the server.
It says that the server cannot be found (both incoming and outgoing)
Could you please advise me how to make the outlook running.
Also I had try to install squid 2.7 proxy on win2k8 but i m getting some error with squid service is not runniong on win2k8 it says create services failed ...please advice me which proxy server i can use our network ( my task is only i want 2 secure internet & block some sites on my internet and outlook should be a work )

Thank you very much.
Have a great day,

Regards
Ashok
