Can not set-up surround speakers through avr unit or through the rc-8000 remote. Will not scroll in the speaker set-up menu to identify the surround speakers. Will identify the front, center and sub. Trying to set-up 5.1 home theater speakers through the 4802. Front, center and sub speakers are working, but do not get sound through the 2 rear surrounds. Do not know how to get the surrounds to function/turn-on. AVR is used recently bought through ebay that looks to be in excellent condition. other functions on rc-8000 remote work.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, have you tried a full / hard RESET of the Denon AVR-4802? Doing so would allow you to start clean/fresh reverting to factory defaults and remove any glitches, errors in settings, configuration including memories, presets and user preferences. If have not been tried:

  • switch OFF the AVR-4802 and unplug from the wall outlet;
  • press and hold the DIRECT buttons and stereo button;
  • without releasing the buttons, plug the unit back into the wall outlet;
  • release the buttons only when the display is blinking.

Offhand, should the above be not corrective, then it would be a hardware fault on the power outputs of the amp designated for the surround. Options then are:
  • consider a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair if and only if very familiar with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM, a soldering iron/station and safe working practices with electrically powered devices. Access to a Service Manual or at the very least, a schematic diagram would be a necessity;
  • should you be uncomfortable with a DIY, perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of an authorized Hitachi Service Center or a qualified professional.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Hello Fixya team, I need help!

To set up your home theater system with the equipment you mentioned, follow these steps:
  1. Connect the Onkyo receiver to the NEC TV using an HDMI cable. Make sure the HDMI input on the TV is set to the correct input for the Onkyo receiver.
  2. Connect the Panasonic DVD player to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  3. Connect the Firestick Lite to the Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable.
  4. Connect the Panasonic speakers to the Onkyo receiver using speaker wires. Make sure you connect the speakers to the correct speaker terminals on the receiver, which are usually labeled with the speaker's position (e.g. front left, front right, center, surround left, surround right).
  5. Configure the Onkyo receiver to use the correct input for each device. For example, set the input to "DVD" when you want to watch a movie on the Panasonic DVD player, or set the input to "Firestick" when you want to watch content on the Firestick Lite.
  6. Configure the audio settings on the Onkyo receiver to use the correct audio format for your content. For example, if you are watching a movie with Dolby Digital surround sound, make sure the receiver is set to decode Dolby Digital audio.
  7. Adjust the volume and other audio settings on the Onkyo receiver as needed to optimize the sound quality.
Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to enjoy surround sound audio from your Panasonic speakers through the Onkyo receiver.

I've had my Denon AVR-2308CI receiver for 3 years and last week I turned it on to watch a movie and there is no sound coming from my rear speakers? I have a 5 speaker set up (3 in front and 2 in the rear)...

On the front display of the unit, you should have indicator icons that light up if a speaker is being used. Are there only 3 speakers lite up, or are there 5? As a quick check, make sure your speaker connections are secure, and then make sure your surround mode is set to a 5 channel surround mode. 5 channel Stereo is a good one to test with. Also, you can hit the "test" button to see if the speakers are connected and working, it will give a test signal out of each speaker independently. Let me know what you find, and I can answer more.

Speaker connection from Denon AVR 2105 to Wharfedale suround

The spkrs sound like they are bi-amp spkrs, meaning you have multiple terminals on the backs of each spkr, the jumpers on the spkrs should be connected as such. Now you just connect the spkrs according to the Denon spkr conection diagram. Do not use the surround back unless you have 6 or 7 pair of spkrs

Back speakers with av denon 1908

Plug your rear 5.1 speakers into the surround speaker connections. Be sure to use the AVR 1908 set up menu to set rear speakers (not an amp assign). Hope this helps.

Denon AVR-3805 zone 2 no longer working

time to reset the microprocessor. See page 87 in manual.
1) switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation (small power button)
2) hold the PURE DIRECT button and DIRECT button at same time and turn the main unit's power operation on.
3) wait for entire display to flash in 1 second intervals

now the speakers need to be set up again but zone 2 will be working. i suspect a power surge causes the microprocesser to be corrupted. i put a power surge protector and have not had problems (lately).

I have an Harman kardon receiver (avr 310) it only plays in left and rigth speaker with surround off . I try everything to make it work in other but it can't .

Surround only works from a surround source such as Pro Logic.
If you are useing a regular stereo source with surround off, the sound will come only from L/R speakers (and sub woofer if used)
