Idles OK but not perfect. Accelerates great but in gears 2, 3, and 4 you really notice a "pulsating" feel if you stay steady on the trottle in the 3kish range. It`s not bad enough for me to pull and clean all the carbs or pay $600-700. Are there any carb cleaners to add to the fuel? It has 37k miles and it`s a new bike to me with minimal storage time. Starts fine. Scott

Sounds like a lean fuel mix surge. Try turning the choke on slightly to see if it stops. If yes, look for an air leak, carb rejet, overall tune up.

YOU HAVE A TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKUP ISSUE, HAVE SOMEONE LIKE THE DEALER,AUTO ZONE OR IF YOU ARE HANDY CHECK FOR CODES, NO CODES....THEN TAKE THE CAR OUT STEADY DRIVE AT AROUND 45 MPH, GENTLY HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS GO ON BUT NOT HARD ENOUGH TO STOP THE CAR...DO YOU FEEL THE CONVERTER SHIFT IN AND OUT EACHJ TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TOUCHED MAINTAINING A STEADY 45 MPH SPEED, IF IT THAT SAME SHUDDER YOU ARE FEELING THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, NOT AN EASY JOB AS THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REMOVED TO GET AT IT.SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS.......

2001 ford taurus will not idle down

several things can do this but most likely would be
1 TPS trottle postion sensor = replace
2 stuck butterfly valve inside the trottle body = clean out with trottle body cleaner try to get most of the black build up with a old tooth brush
3 bad trottle cable= feel the cable make sure it moves freely if not replace it
