CONNECTING THE PANASONIC SC HT680 TO A SONY TRINITRON COLOR TV AND CABLE BOX

I have connected the audio in from the cable box to audio out on the Panasonic SC Ht680 5 Disc DVD/CD Home theatre Sound System, as stated by another Fixya expert and still nothing happens. The type of tv that i have connected is a 2001 Sony Trinitron Color TV Model KV36HS20. It has the Audio Video input on the back of the tv but i dont know which one to chose. I can see and hear the television through the speakers when i select Aux on the Panasonic but can not get dvd to show up at all. But if i put a dvd disc in the Panasonic, i can hear the movie playing with all the sounds through the speakers as if i was viewing the movie itself. But can not get the dvd mode to come up. Only a black screen when dvd is selected. Is my tv too old or is my connection incorrect? Ms Tanya

Audio/video OUT from the cable box to the aux IN on the panasonic right? So you can see the output from the cable box but only sound from dvd. Are you changing the input on the tv when you go from watching the cable box to watching the DVD? the panasonic handles audio, but the video from each goes to two different inputs on the sony. I hope none of this sounds condescending.

I am having trouble connecting my Panasonte SC-BT230 to my cable box and my TV. Do i connect my cable box to SC-Bt230 than to my TV or my SC-BT230 to cable box than to TV

Hello,
Here are a few ways to go about this.
connect the cable box hdmi (if Capable) to the panasonic hdmi input. Then connect panasonic hdmi out to tv hdmi in. The easy thing about this setup is that you only need the two hdmi cables because they carry both audio and video.

If your cable box or tv are not hdmi compatible, Then connect video output from cable box directly to your tv, and send an audio feed from your cable box to the panasonic.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck

CD/DVD PROBLEM ON A PANASONIC SA-HT680

Check your "Setup Menu" with NO DVD in the player. Could be the wrong format, should be 720p or 1080i or 1080p. Are you using Component cables to your TV or HDMI? if Component, check your connections, it is color coded but may be hard to see with most installations. Use a flashlight to make sure colors are correct Red to Red, Blue to Blue and Green to Green. Sounds like you've got cables mixed up. It happens to the best of us! and I do it for a living! Hope this helps

I just bought the sc-pt660.Is there any way for me to hook my regular tv(not a flat screen or hdtv)or my time warner cable box to this to get sound from movies on tv.I dont see any audio in ports.thanks

You can use the PANASONIC AUX IN ports for your TV or CABLE BOX audio, unless you run the DIGITAL CABLE into the PANASONIC, this may be available on the CABLE BOX or your TV, my suggestion is if you use the Cable box to view TV then use the CABLE BOX AUDIO OUTPUTS, you would be better with the CABLE BOX digital output INTO YOUR panasonic, but if it is already being used take the AUDIO out analog connection from your cable box into your Panasonic AUX INPUTS, then set the Panasonic to AUX IN mode.

Low sound when turned to AUX for surround sound

remember to turn the volume up on the cable box and down on the surround sound so you will get max audio input to the surround system and then adjust using the surround sound remote! good luck

Sc-pt660 + 46pz85u = NO SOUND!

Don't worry about sending the TV audio to the Panasonic. Just send a digital audio signal from the cable box to the Panasonic.

DVD - Panasonic connected via HDMI
TV - Panasonic connected via HDI
cable connected to cable box and TV. But you will not really be using the cable connection to the TV (TV Tuner) since you will want HD feed from cable box through HDMI input on TV.

You aren't concerned about feeding the TV speakers because your audio will always come from the home theatre.

Note that some components don't feed audio through HDMI, in which case you will need to use optical digital audio.

How do I get my tv to play through the surround sound

If you have direct cable into the television, you will need to use an audio output if available on the back of your set into your HT system.

If you are using cable w/ a cable box you have two options. You can still connect everything directly into the TV then reroute the audio to the HT system... or, you could hook only video to the TV and audio from the cable box to the HT system. Really up to you.

Do not know how to connect the tv, theatre system to the cable box.

have you got the cable box video out (yellow RCA) connected to the video input on the panasonic? What kind of tv is it? Is the tv displaying the input that the panasonic is connected to? If "progressive" is selected, it will not display on a standard definition tv. Does it matter which mode the panasonic is in (CD/DVD)? I guess I'm just asking for more info ;-)

Hooking Up The Theatre System to the TV and Cable.

this means you likeley have your cable box connected correctly, if you have it connected to a standard definition input (AV in or coaxial) make sure the that the dvd player is not in progressive mode.
