Only two possible reasons I can think of for this--

ONE: you have looked in the customer menu and there is no item listed as Timer?

TWO: Does THIS SET HAVE THE GUIDE PLUS LOGO ON THE FRONT OF THE SET? IF IT HAS THE GUIDE PLUS--YOU WILL FIND IT IN THE MENU ALSO---

LET me know if it has the guide plus feature and I can tell you how to end the problem--most of these the set will come on at the same odd time and usually with volume up high.

HOW DO YOU GET TV AUDIO TO MY HOME THEATER?

For analog audio output use the L (White) and R (Red) RCA/Phono coax jacks to output to your Home Theater. Other option is to use the headphone jack wired to the home theater, however use of this will switch off any sound coming from the TV.

If the Home Theater supports digital inputs, use one of these connectors, Orange/Black RCA jacks, Toslink (Optical), HDMI. For nice pictures do a search for images in google/yahoo with the connector type.

So basically look for output connectors on the TV and match it with the same type of connector on you Home Theater input.

RCA LCD Flat Panel HDTV and RCA Home Theater System--No sound

Video comes from external device to TV - OUT on device and IN on TV.

Sound connects by the red/white cable set (or HDMI). Place set in Audio OUT ports on TV and Audio IN ports on DVD. Then select AUX IN on DVD.

Should i mute the volume on my tv now that i have a home theater system set up?

No. Here is why, you are sending the sound through an audio left and right on the theater system therefore the audio part of the tv will go mute automatically. for example your dvd player left and right audio will be outputed through you theater system and video to the TV...

Have you tried just hoooking up the DVD player by itself? Is the DVD player output setting correct? Also, make sure the "video input" is set for the correct channel that you are viewing (i.e. Channel 3).

Dir TV projection Techcions, I own RCA Model:P52937 Chassis No.PTK195M26B. After a big flood here in Chicago, my basement got flooded and my projection TV was in water up to 1 foot. Befor I turned it on, I dreid it out perfectly, then, I turned it on, and a couple components from the power supply got burned up to the point where I am not able to read the part numbers that are on it.
