Question about Kenmore 64942 Electric Dryer
Dyer is running but not drying-no heat. Wanted to check fuse but can not find it. Help please.
The fuse is located in the dryer fan/blower wheel cover and is a one time fuse, which means it is not resettable. I did a look up for the kenmore model # that you gave and I cannot find your model listed. If you go to parts.com and do a search for your dryer you will be able to see all the drawings on your dryer. You will be able to find the replacement part # and how to get to it. Test your fuse to check if it is open if it is, then replace the fuse. There is also a temperature sensor on the back wall of the dyer drum (it is a small metal circle close to the exhaust outlet). Sometimes there is simply a build up of fabric softener residue on them that stops the dryer from heating up. Clean the sensor with an alcohol wipe.
Hope this helps and don't forget to get all the lint out of the dryer before putting it back in service.

We replaced both thermal fuse and the two pack of internal thermostats and the dryer runs without heating. . . which means that our problem is only 1/2 fixed because before we did this, it wouldn't even come on. Found on www.repairclinic.com that if the unit runs but doesn't heat (on an electric model) then it could also be the heating element, wiring that has burned out part but not all of the wiring, or one of the two fuses or circuit breakers from the house (dryers use 2) was blown or tripped. After checking these things, we think we've got to replace a heating element. ugh

Remove the back panel off the dryer on the side of the pan holding the heating element you will see a small disc with two wires on it thats the thermal fuse if your going to check it with a meter remove one wire first its a non resetable fuse
