Bissell 7950 ProHeat Self Propelled Carpet cleaner Replacement Pump Belt part 215-0628

What is the secret in removing/replacing the "red retainer plate that holds the black brush arm" after the screw has been removed?
The directions say to "remove the screw that holds the red retainer plate in place. Set red retainer plate aside. YEAH RIGHT! Taking out the screw is no problem. But how to get the red retainer plate out is another story. THEN how do you get it back in?

Normally, there is a post sticking out of the retainer to remove it. If the post is broken off, then you will have to lift the black arm and wiggle it at the same time and the retainer will pop up so you can remove it. On the belt side, the retainer is fairly large and you can usually get a hold of it with a pair of needle nose pliers. On the other side, the retainer is small and you can lift it out with the pliers by griping it gently using the hole that the screw goes through.

The unit does not put any watter on the carpet and when I push the triger the red spinner does not move. The tank is full of hot watter

Hello,

This sounds like your pump brush belt is broken in your Bissell. The belt controls the pump in the machine, as well as the brushes. This would be explain why the solution is not spraying, as well as why the red spinner on the top of the machine is also not spinning.

Here's an extremely helpful video that you can watch on how to replace the belt on your Bissell ProHeat Carpet Cleaner.

If you open up the door and find that your belt is not broken, please just reply using the Clarification Request form here on the Fixya website, and I'll be more then happy to do some advanced diagnosing with you to figure out what the problem is.

Bissell Proheat 25A3/64D9 series - cleaned one rug - now the wheels won't turn and it looks like the belts are on ok. What else should I look for?

I had the same problem. I found that when I took the belt door off, the belt was fine. I turned it over and took the red retainer arm out and then removed the screw on the white brush holder, the toothed belt was fine also. Somehow the machine had grabbed a carpet cord and wrapped it around the pulley where the toothed belt and the flat belt both attach. The spindle just wouldn't turn. After removing the carpet thread, everything worked fine again.

The beater bar isn't working on my Bissell Proheat 2X carpet cleaner!

Open the side door labeled "belt access" and check your belts, there should be a flat rubber one leading from the main motor to the pump, and a cogged one reaching forward to the brushroll.
Replacement of the rubber belt is fairly simple, but the cogged belt can be a little bit of a pain. Replacement of it is fairly intuitive, just take care when removing the little red tabs at the ends of the brushroll, because they break very very easily.
Feel free to contact me with any further questions of for clarification.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE BELTS ON A BISSELL STEAM CLEANER

on your housing you will see a plastic cover adout 4 inches long remove this piece and you should see where your pump belt goes. flip your steamer over and remove the little red retainer that sits by the belt you have located. at this point you can take your brushroll out and slip the pump belt over the pump and onto your motor. then reassemble.

Bissell proheat self propelled series 7950 won't spray water and pump belt isn't broken.

I'm having the same issue and it was the pump. The metal drive gear sheared off of the plastic pump shaft. I JB Welded it back together, now I just need a schematic to reassemble the cleaner.

Bissell Proheat Carpet Cleaner

First remove the some cover on the lfet side that is on top, then turn unit over, remove the red lock plate, has 1 screw, pull it out, then you can pull the end cap out, remove it, the cogged belt is there. If while you have the brush roll off, the pump belt can be replaced also. REmove old belt, put new belt over the bigger round part of the pump pully, feed it thru opening, then from the top, grap it and stretch it over the motor shaft. Then put the cogged belt on and reinstall the brush roll and the red lock.
