Hi There! I have generally not had problems doing this. When I connect the usb cable to my computer, a noise sounds indicating something new has been found. Then after a minuter or so I would get a window pane with 3 choices: download using Windows, one other, or caplio program. I always chose Caplio program and had no troubles. Lately, the window pane has been coming up, but it doesn't have my choices in it! They are blank. I have disconnected a number of times and eventually the choices come up. Now, however, my window pane is not turning up at all. I tried going directly to "caplio" drive on "my computer" but it will say "the device is in use or not connected" and it can't download pics....please help!!

Connect the lead from the camera to the USB on your computer. If you have the Camera software on the computer, it will open up automatically. If you don't, you can view and move images using File Explorer in Windows which shows the camera storage as a 'Volume Drive'.

Copying pictures from your camera to your computer is very easy. Just follow the steps below so you can download them in no time.
1. Some digital cameras come with a software that helps you copy pictures from your camera to your computer. Install the software on your computer.
2. Connect the camera to your computer using the USB cable.
3. You can also use a memory card and memory card reader. All you have to do is to remove the memory card from your camera and insert it into the memory card reader.
4. Once you have connected the camera to your computer or your memory card card into the memory card reader, your computer will detect the connection and ask what you want to do with the pictures. --> If you connected your camera with a USB cable, click Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, and then click OK. --> If you are using a memory card reader, click Copy pictures to a folder on my computer using Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, and then click OK.
5. When the Scanner and Camera Wizard appears, click Next. Choose the folder where you want your pictures to be downloaded.
Downloading the software shouldn't be necessary to download the pictures to your computer Hard Drive. Depending on your computer operating system be it PC or Mac it should handle your download as if it was an external hard drive or device. Saying this there are still a lot of "old" Windows program still in operation but if you have Windows XP home edition or newer then no problem. Mac's have a mind of their own and will look at the link as an external Hard Drive. Maybe what the problem is the sequence in which you are attempting to download. Fist make sure the camera has sufficient power for the transfer of data, then turn it off connect the mini USB cable to the camera and the USB cable end to a computer USB port (nothing will happen at this point.) What I then do is make a folder in My Documents or (Finder) if you are a Mac, and title it with something that relates to the images which will be inside I generally use a month, day and date. At the end of the year (coming soon) I'll make a folder with the year and all the 2010 Months folders will be placed in there. Okay once you have a place to put the picture files turn on the camera in a few seconds the PC may say found a new device and then may put the external device icon on the desk top if not you need to go fetch it from system preferences. Open the file highlight the files and copy them click on the new folder you just made and past them in there. Check see if the picture files are there and then eject the external device/hard drive remember to turn off the device before shutting off the camera and disconnecting the USB cable. If it's a Mac once you turn your camera on the external Hard Drive Icon will appear on the desk top follow the same thing as with the PC. Then once you have "ejected the Hard Drive and the icon has closed shut the camera off and remove the USB cable. Wait you aren't done yet, now you need to format your memory card. Formatting the Memory card cleans the card of the old pictures and provides and clean medium to load new picture files to. Have fun Robert from Canada

The computer will choose the "My Pictures" folder by default unless you want them in a different folder. 4.Preview the pictures. You can delete any you don't like or want. Make sure to delete them off your camera as well or the next time you download that picture will downloaded again. 5.Select a picture and print. Some software will let you put borders and cute sayings on your pictures. Have fun with it. Take care
Most cameras are detected and installed automatically as external disk after connecting the USB cable.
In that case all you will need to do is opening My Computer and accessing the camera after connecting USB.
The picture will be contained into a folder inside the camera USB disk, represented in My computer.
At that point select all pictures, and copy and paste them into the My Picture folder.
In the camera disk
do you have a usb cable to connect your camera to your pc? Then generally by pressing the power button once the usb cable is connect, your pc will recognise your camera and then follow the onscreen instruction.
If you have a USB cable that came with the camera, simply find the port on the camera that the small and of the cable will fit into, and the plug the other end of the cable into the USB port on the computer. Your computer should detect the camera on its own. Go to "My Computer" and click on the drive that matches the drive you pluged the USB cable into. Click on the appropriate files to find your pictures. Once you have found your pictures, press CTRL+A on the keyboard, right click any picture, click on "copy" or "cut" from the menu, then open your "Pictures" folder which should already be on your computer by defualt, right click in the "pictures" window once opened and click "paste" from the menu.
