Help with Harman Kardon cdr26

Is there any way to reset the CDR26 manually? (Like pressing the bottons on the front?) There is no signal coming through the RCA inputs in the back. I am just trying to save $$$ if it is something easy.

When we try to record to a CD, we get a message that there is no audio. If you plug the headphones in you can hear the audio so it is there. What is wrong?

If you're sure you have the correct analogue source selected through the front panel and the record level turned up, it might be your unit is faulty. There is no reset sequence listed in the service manual of the sony model this unit is based on. And as the previous poster said, you need to be in record pause mode for it to do anything. You're not connecting a record player by any chance? These need to run through a pre-amp first.

HOW TO RESET HARMAN KARDON AVR70

Hi, Try this. Hope this helps and I have the link here to the manual.
Processor Reset
If the AVr behaves erratically after a power surge, first turn off the front-panel
main
power switch and unplug the Ac power cord for at least 3 minutes. plug the cord back
in and turn the AVr on. If this procedure doesn't help, reset the AVr's processor as
described below.
note: resetting the processor will erase all user configurations, including speaker and
level settings, and tuner presets. After a reset, reenter all of these settings from your
notes in the Appendix worksheets.

To reset the AVR's processor:

1. press the front-panel Standby/on switch to place the unit in the Standby mode (the
Standby Indicator led will turn amber).
2. press and hold the front-panel Standby and memory/folder buttons until the reSet
message appears on the front-panel message display.
3. press the memory/folder button again to reset the AVr's processor.
If the AVr does not function correctly after a processor reset, contact an authorized
harman
kardon service center for assistance.

Describe your Harman Kardon CDR30 2-Disc CD Recorder Problem It's a CDR26 and neither of the drawers will open.

With mine, it was the drive belts for the cd drawers, which were stretched and rigid. Open the case. Remove the 4 screws that hold down each cd drive. Push the drives out enough so you can pull the silver facing off the sliding try by pulling it up. Now you can lift out the cd drives, removing all the connectors as you go. Flip the white plastic slider underneath each drive and you can mechanically open the slide tray. This reveals the little motor and rubber pulley belt that operates the slide tray. If the belts are broken, perished, rigid or something, get something similar from your local electronics parts store (a couple of bucks each belt), and reassemble.

I can't open the tray on the recorder side.

I had similar problem with both drawers. The belt from the drive motor to the drawer pulley is worn. mcmelectronics.com has two belts 42-1050, 42-045 that are close enough in size to work. Remove cover, press down on tray, slide tray forward about half way and you will see the worn belt. Total cost of fix is about $12.
