You'll have to be a little more specific, as there are many areas that require proper torque when assembling engines, and engine parts.

On the cleveland i would always take the even setting torque all around the head and........... then the x patteron evenly out from front to back............Make sure to use torque wrench at equal intarviles each time to specific torque required....Hope this helps.

Trying to figure out why a normal 1970's Ford 351c Freeze plug is way to small for my 1972 Ford 351 Cleveland?

measure the diameter of the welsh plug holes that you need plugs for and any spares shop will have a GeeJay kit of welsh plugs that will have the plugs you want
The idea is to fit the plugs , the problem of why can be answered later after the job is done

351 windsor

You can tell by looks or by the VIN number if the engine is original.
The fifth digit could be H or Q. H is for the Windsor engine and Q is for Cleveland. The Windsor looks like an ordinary 289 or 302 engine, the Cleveland is a big head 400 version. I don't think they used a 4bbl Windsor but they did use a 2bbl Cleveland so that is not a good example.

Firing order for a 74 351 block casting d4ae-6015-aa

This all depends on whether this is a Windsor engine or a Cleveland engine. The Windsor engine has a 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order. The Cleveland engine has a 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order. You may want to try the Cleveland engine firing order first.

I hope this helps! :) That's a NICE old engine you have there!

I have a 1965 food falcon with a mustang 302 (1978 ) v8. how do i know if it is a windsor or not?

Well there is a 302 cleveland, they are mainly an Australian engine. Identifying one is much like telling the difference between a 351 windsor and a 351 cleveland. Based on the fact that it's from Ford's 335 engine family. 8 cap screws to hold on the valve covers, the block is longer do to the timing chain housing being integrated. The fuel pump bolts are mounted vertically, and the exhaust bolt holes are diagonal. Also, a big difference between an american 302 and an aussie 302 cleveland, is the connecting rods for the cleveland are 6.000''. Where the american 302 connecting rod length is 5.090". Also, referring to a 302 as a windsor is incorrect, it's block families name is the 90 degree v8. The only engine in that family that is properly named the windsor, is the 351 windsor. The 90 degree family also includes the 302 boss. The boss has cleveland style heads, and the block has screw in freeze plugs.
