Tray output When printing I will send lets say 20 pages to the printer of a mix in size of legal and letter. If the 1st page is legal size it prints from tray 2(legal size paper loaded) and continue to print from tray 2 for the whole job even though letter size paper is required. If the 1st page is letter it prints from tray 1(letter size paper loaded) and does the same thing except now it only prints from tray 1 How do I get this to recognize which tray the paper should be pulled from

How do I get the HP L7780 to tell the difference between Letter and Legal size paper, when I receive a fax (Letter in tray 1 & legal in tray 2) ?

  • jerseyreb Feb 29, 2008

    Almost the same problem

try to print legal and get one letter size the the rest are legal size

    Printer is Samsung ML-3051 ND/XAA

Already set the trays as legalonly and letter only

Does not matter if you choose tray does the same

  • ken7258 Jan 26, 2009

Tray 1 legal, tray 2 letter, no matter the size it always picks paper from tray 1 legal. This should be so simple. I also have print jobs that have both letter and legaI, the printer should be able to pick the right tray. I just talked to India for 1.5 hours, what a bunch of idiots.

the trays are filled with the correct size paper. computers default to paper size, not manual or bypass. normally we have seen it ask at each new job, now it is asking at every page of each job, it won't even recognize to print all 5 pages on the paper selected. Is this a copier issue or a computer settings issue?

You should configure TRAY 1 as Legal only.
and Tray 2 as plain letter.

Specially when you specify from what tray/paper type to print.

This can be easily configured from the Printer Properties within the Printers and Faxes section of the Control Panel.

Good luck!

I have a cannon image class d480 when I print a document only 1 page gets printed followed by a blank page. A red error light flashes at the processing data sign.

Try going into Control Panel > Printers and Properties, right-click on your printer icon and go into Printer Preferences for that printer. Make sure both Page Size and Output Size are set for the the same size of what you are printing (Letter, Letter/Legal, Legal/A4,A4, etc). Often, Output size is set to Match Page Size...that was causing the problem for me.

When I print a "letter" size document I have to push the green button to make it print. If it is legal it prints automatically to the legal tray.

Obviosly your magazine (Place of taking paper) of the printer is set to legal. The lights is lighting, couse the printer is telling you: You want me to print on letter, but I don have any letter, so please confirm that you want me to print on legal.
In order to avoid this set the printer to all types of paper available.

My printer won't print letter automatically. It's stuck on printing only legal. If I pull legal tray out it will print letter. But I need it to adjust with alternating print jobs.

Printer wont stop paper, if any page length mismatch,Select page length as any size, as well as while shooting the print command select page length as legal & try it. I feel that teflon not rotating properly, result paper jamming at bottom end. If any paper length faulty printer detects the length give message of mis match..Pl check carefully...

Our machine shows E051. so what can i do.

The JAM DUPLEX message appears if you remove a sheet of paper from the face down output tray after only one side has printed.
The paper sizes you can use with the duplex printing function are A4, Letter or Legal.

If the paper adjustment lever for duplex printing is not set correctly for the paper size, paper jams may occur and the printing will be out of position on the page.

Open the back output tray.
Use both hands to slowly pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.

Close the back output tray.
If the paper jam cannot be cleared, go to the next step.
Pull the duplex tray and paper tray out of the printer.
Pull the jammed paper out of the printer
Put the duplex tray and paper tray back in the printer.

When in automatic tray select, printer will not

I would try reinstalling the Vista driver, then turn the printer off and on and reboot. No guarantees but it's worth a shot if you haven't already done it. Good luck!

I HAVETHE PRINTER SET ON LETTER SIZE BUT WHEN I GO TO PRINT THE PRINTER DEFAULTS ( "LEGAL TRAY EMPTY."

More than likely, the print data coming at the printer contains either a PJL Command for legal size paper or a Printer Control Code for legal.

Check the page setup on the application to make sure it is set correctly.

You can also do a "print to file" off of the printer properties page. Name the file something simple like "Legal Error" Windows will assign a ".prn" file extension to the name.

Then send the fie to me at [email protected]. I can verify the error is in the data file and if necessary correct it for you.

How to print with the legal paper?

Hi,
follw the given step and check-
1-Before printing your document, be sure the page size is set to legal paper. Go to "File> Page Setup" and then click on the "Paper Size" tab. Select "Legal" from the drop-down menu.

2-Go to the printer and take out the paper tray. Remove the letter size paper.

3-Insert about one half of the package of legal size paper into the tray, depending on the depth of your tray. Larger printers can accept an entire package, while smaller ones cannot.

4-Make sure that the paper goes underneath the metal clips located at both the front and back of the tray.

5-For printers that don't have a tray, you'll have to manually feed the legal size paper. Locate the paper feed either on the front or rear of the printer.

6-Put a few sheets of legal size paper into the paper feed. The paper should be placed as close to the rubber spindles as possible. These spindles will draw the paper into the machine and feed it through the printer.

7-Print a test page.

Thanks,

I have a brother hl-5250dn with an extra tray for legal size paper. I have a problem printing loan documents sent via swiftview or elynx. I can only print on letter pages or legal pages but not both and...

Sounds like your secratery's printer is set to ignore paper mismatch errors. It depends on the setting you have in your driver. Can you set your driver on your printer to ignore paper mismatch errors. If not when your printer errors, just try hitting the go button and it should print the document any way.
