Maestro 3100won't power up

mine did the same thing finally i tryed unpluging it from back of tv well still plugged in and then pushing in the power button on the tv and mine turns on but i cant use a remote to shut it on or off and cant seen to find any info on this tv anywhere so for last 3 months that is how ive been turning it on and off any ideas ??

That is a common problem for the Magellan's. Try holding the power button a few seconds to try and turn it on instead of just pressing it.

if your sure its charging, plug it in and press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds, if that fails, let me know.

plug it into your usb cable to your computer for a few hours.

then start the gps then press/slide power switch for ten seconds to reset the unit.

if that fails, start the gps, locate the reset button (little tiny hole) either on the left,right or bottom of the gps. gently depress reset using a paper clip or something similar

press and hold the power button for up to 10 seconds. that should reset it. after you do that, go HERE and download and install the latest update for your 5310

make sure green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (upto ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails


the following magellan 2000,2200t,2500,3000,3100,3140,4000 and the 4050 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...i sell these power ports and will repair them for anyone thats not able to do it them selves

I had the same problem and I solved it by cutting a few strands of speaker wire and twisting them together and inserting them into the center of the generic car gharger end which plugs into the Maestro 4000, It seems that the 4000 has a very small center conducter on the GPS itself and by adding a few strands of speaker wire about 1/2" long into the plug before pluging it into the 4000 it allows it to makes contact with the small power inlet conductor which is smaller than most generic cigarette lighter 5vdc power cords. I did this to mine and it powered up right away. The other solution is to buy the actual car power cord from Magellan which has the proper size connecton and makes proper connection all the time.

plug the unit in and press the silver button by the left side and make sure the unit is fully charged if not,plug in the home charger and iti will be fully charged 3 to 4 hrs,also if the battery is fully charged the unit should turn on after you press the silver button on the left side and hold for a few secs. without the car or home charger.also chk your cd manual for further info.let me know what happens.ok.

GPS units should never be permanently left in vehicles. The vehicle interiors get way too cold or hot depending on the climate you live in and is very damaging.

Try taking it indoors and connect it via the supplied a/c wall charger and see if it turns on.
